Now we're talking! This is pretty much my ideal monitor in terms of aspect ratio and resolution.

My only reservation here is how the OLED panel deals with text as 80%+ of my usage will be productivity.
I've always had reservations about this as it's generally been an issue but I'm hoping this RGWB subpixel layout they're touting will help somewhat.
@Baddass is there any more info on this in particular?

I suspected they would be 165Hz, although the 330Hz option is intriguing if done well @Personality+ ;

"Update: While not included in the official press release, we have now confirmed with LG that these new 45″ screens will offer a native 165Hz refresh rate at 5120 x 2160, with the ability then to double the refresh rate to 330Hz if you lower the resolution by half to 2560 x 1080. It’s not clear at this stage what combinations will be available if you want to run in 16:9 aspect ratio. We knew there were panels of this spec in plan from LG.Display with a 165Hz refresh rate. It’s likely that 240Hz refresh rate panels will follow at a later date, which were also on the roadmap."

GG to BA for confirming the refresh rate!

I'll wait a year or two I think just based on how monitor prices go for most displays.

For example my extra 120hz to get 480hz is basically a 400 tax from 360hz. Only worth it if the 5090 delivers that performance uplift to meet that demand. If it doesn't I'll upgrade as soon as they're available.

It made some reasonable improvements on the PG27AQDP 480Hz, and then any increase in pixel density beyond that helps further. So I’d expect good things. I’ll check them out in person at CES next week too

damn such a shame the new 39" is only 3440x1440 intead of the older 38" models 3840x1600. Makes it kinda pointless over the 34" options
the current 38" lcd is about as large as I'd want to go on a desktop, it's already a bit weird playing some FPS on such a large screen so not sure if going to a 45" would make sense

Well we've got the recently released and heavily reviewed 27" 4K OLED so why can't we just have a 21:9 version of that - a 34" 5120x2160 with 160ppi?

165Hz, no thanks. I thought these would be 240Hz lol. Once you've used 240Hz vs even 175Hz it's noticeable just even dragging windows around on the desktop. And lol at using 2560x1080 on a 45" display. that won't look bad at all no, unless you are sitting ~6 feet away maybe.

Horses for courses.

Personally 165Hz would be more than adequate for my needs and I'd value the resolution more.

Sure, we'd all like 5K2K monitors with 240Hz refresh but, until they actually exist, it's a trade-off and you have to choose which features are more important to your use-case.

The tradeoff is having 32" 4K 240 until that time comes :D

What AAA/AA games are you playing at 4K at 240fps? Or is fps and the monitor hz not the same thing, I thought they were linked.

This weekend I'm gonna put my 55" CX on my desk and stick it on UW to see what it's like for sims, not sure what that is equivalent to, would be 123cm w.

I'm not playing any game at 240fps, all games are locked at a maximum of 120fps as a matter of preference as I don't play competitive online games, only campaign games and fighting games like Smash which don't need to be above 120fps.

A higher refresh rate still has its benefits even if you are not actually playing at 240fps.
