I don’t know why they’d stop providing DTS. Just odd.
Licensing fees, not sure what it costs per TV, but if they can save money..
Problem is if you have a soundbar that only has ARC/E-ARC input, and no HDMI inputs (passthrough) you are screwed, as that means you can't even add a dedicated streamer say Nvidia shield Pro to go Source---->Soundbar---->TV. At least with AVR it doesn't matter even if the TV has no sound output at all (say a monitor or projector) you go source--->AVR--->Projector.
Just limits options, for example my C9 supports DTS, but if I bought a new TV which didn't support DTS and I had soundbar with E-ARC I'd be pretty annoyed why I'm only getting two channel PCM for any any DTS material (DVD/BD/TV apps)
