LG CX (C10) OLED 2020 Thread

If you going to game on it lower the oled light to say 40/50 I have mine at 50, that way I don't need to wear my sunglasses,:D also don't display any icons on desktop or wallpaper leave it Black screen and hide the taskbar but if you watching HDR content just leave it at default and put Logo Luminance Adjustment = high, to prevent a burn -in, you must mix your content not always uses the same game on it with allots of static UI on screen then you be fine.

LG OLED TVs come with special features and settings to preserve image quality and prevent burn in and image retention. First, there is a Screen Saver feature that will turn on automatically if the TV detects that a static image is displayed on screen after approximately two minutes. There are also three options (available in Menu setting > Picture settings > OLED panel settings) that can be used to preserve image quality. The first of these is the Clear Panel Noise feature that preserves the quality of the image on the display panel by resetting the TV so that it clears the pixels. This feature can be turned on when needed within the settings mentioned above. The second feature that can be employed is the Screen Shift feature which, moves the screen slightly at regular intervals to preserve image quality. A third option is the Logo Luminance Adjustment, which can detect static logos on the screen and reduce brightness to help decrease permanent image retention.

Cheers for the details - great help!

Want to make the TV last as long as possible in pristine condition so now is the time to get in good habits.

Anyone had to move house and had OLED at the time? Not sure if I should put it back in its box when we move, but at the same time worried about damaging it taking stand off / actually getting it back in its box correctly.

I wouldn't risk moving it without going back in the box personally. So easy to put pressure on the top half and crack the screen.

I remember taking it out of the box it was such a worry when it was laying flat on the box internals screen side down.

Yeah I was super paranoid when I was unboxing my 55 CX. My place is small though so I can't keep boxes around for stuff like this. When I move I will probably just wrap it up in a duvet or something similar for protection

I get that it looks very cool the razor thin top half....but honestly I'd prefer it to have a proper backing all the way up....just seems needlessly fragile to me.

You've got the fancier versions like the WX if you want something super thin...

Why make a guess? It's not very helpful...

The 55 was 1399 last year. The 48 was 1499. I think it's difficult to speculate on the pricing drivers for a) new sizes and b) sizes that may awkwardly depend on larger substrate yields like the 48 does.
It's not difficult to speculate at all. I just did it with great ease.

48's this was an interesting / plausible comment from flatpanels
It's cut off the mother glass of the 77" set, so they only make two 48s for every two 77s. For that reason the 48" supply will be limited to the demand for the 77" panels and will never drop in price like the 55 and 65. As explained by Vincent Teoh. I don't know how they're cutting the 42" off the mother glass but if it's coming off the leftovers from a panel cut for 65s or 55s, which are in much higher demand, there's a chance it could be more widely available and drop in price accordingly. If it's off the 83" cut, then it will probably be more scarce and near as expensive as the 48, seeing as the 55 is already on sale at times for the same as the 48 right now.

I just found a 65" LG CX6 for £1195 (non-UK, central Europe) which is IMO a stonking value price and I can't see any better value than this for a HDMI 2.1 TV.

The new gen LG OLED's will be an improvement I am sure, but nowhere near enough of an improvement to justify paying the huge mark up they will inevitably be. At this price I will have an amazing and fully featured TV that will make upgrading again very easy in a few years. :)
