LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

Nice! Welcome to the club

And yeah still don't get all the fuss for 4k monitors atm:

- price - majority are TN, a few IPS but they cost an absolute fortune, rather get a top end TV for that sort of price....
- quite a few problems with them
- need at least 2 top end GPUs to run games on high settings at acceptable FPS
- 4k res. is a bit pointless for monitors smaller than 34" imo

BTW snips, maybe get the thread title changed a bit? no need to have the widescreen part repeated twice imo :p

Something like this instead?

LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

Will ask it now mate :)

Ok, its been a few days so i thought i'd post my very amateur opinions on it :p

I was worried to begin with that lots of games i play would not display properly at 2560x1080. So far i've played these games with no issues...

Men of war assault squad
Sniper Elite 3
Kerbal space program
Bioshock infinite
Chivalry : medieval warfare
PvZ Garden warfare

The colours are excellent, no blurring and i have my monitor set to 10 brightness, plenty enough for me. I'd go as far to say that i wish i went super wideboy earlier.

Love it!!!

Got mine today, extremely impressed so far, not check for bleeding or ips glow, what's the best way to test?

Added to the OP as owners :D Welcome!!!

It has already been changed :p

I did see that - sat there scratching my head briefly :)

Cancel my last, room is still far to bright to get a decent pic, will sort it tonight when it's dark.

My brightness level was maxed out by default at 100, is that bad? can you guys recommend ideal settings for games and movies please?

100 is high and will no doubt damage your eyes. I'm running mine at 13 and so far so good :)

Unlucky :(

BTW seen your post in the other lg thread, that lg calibrator won't work with our monitors.

Shame!!!

I've also had a really annoying issue with the brightness profile switching between factory set & my custom settings when watching films. Most annoying and I've emailed LG CS.

Not impressed as my monitor has pretty much no backlight bleed & minimal IPS bleed at 50% brightness :(

Well there's a depressing end to my monitor saga!

Received this from LG today:

We are writing to you in regards to your LG Monitor, model number 29UM65-P.

We regret to advise you that we have been unable to repair your faulty LG product and as a result of this we have decided to authorise the item to be exchanged or credited at your retailer’s discretion.

We hereby confirm that you are entitled to the above subject to the conditions set out below:

In order to claim the replacement or credit from your retailer, you are required to contact the retailer from whom you purchased the original product and provide them with the following:

1. This letter of authorisation.
2. An accepted proof of purchase – preferably the original receipt.

Which makes my choice harder as the monitor appears to be EOL, so I cannot get an identical model :(

Here are my choices based on the value I paid:
