LG Flatron 29UM65-P (29") UltraWide Monitor Owners Thread

Its here!

A few images of it on my desk. Also tried to show its colours but pictures don't do it justice.

I am only running it on HDMI atm as my new GTX 970 isn't coming until tomorrow. So have it plugged into a GTS 240... :o

Can't wait to see it running with games. :D

Haven't noticed any light bleed either, which is a bonus.

Very happy with this monitor. Will take a while to get used to it being so wide though!

Very nice! :D

I still think if they changed the res to be 2560*1200, the addition to the height of the monitor would make it perfect. I felt it was lacking in height and was not 100% on it when I had it!

Just picked up an Asus PB278Q and its mint! I love it!

What snips said.

You might be able to get 70 without frame skipping. In fact, I think the 29" by AOC (same panel) can get 70-75, but as I said, the 34" LG monitors can't......

I am too scared to try it out myself :p

Can't mess it up mate. If the refresh rate isn't accepted, it will go to a black screen and revert to normal after 15 seconds. You just try the next resolution & refresh rate you've given it.

My 27" 1440p ASUS is 60hz stock and I've got it running at 85hz, which is beautiful for BF3.

ok so today I received mine, finally in the club high 5?

took a chance on a b-grade and seems ok, no stuck pixels. had no leads but hdmi working fine in it, havnt done any light tests yet.

one thig it is missing that I need tho is the 2 screws to hold it to stand, ive got it just hanging the now but does anyone know the size of the 2 screws I need eg m3x10mm.

thanks loving it so far

Room for a desk mount?

I have watched quite a lot of blu ray films on this monitor now and the quality, colours etc. are just amazing but more importantly, the aspect ratio, oh man, it is just sooooo good not having any black bars wasting screen space! Games in 21.9 are just fantastic too especially the really atmospheric ones i.e. alien isolation!

All I need now is a monitor which has perfect motion clarity, freesync/gsync and MUCH better blacks/contrast ratio. Hopefully Samsung will have a 29-32" VA 21.9 monitor coming out next year along with their 34" version.

EDIT:

Found a semi-decent review of this monitor:

Probably the only review we are going to get :p :o

Added to OP! :D

Agree with those findings. It was like looking through a letterbox for me, with the lack of vertical height. I passed the 21:9 29" LG onto my Son and then bought a 27" 1440p.
For the balance of vertical and horizontal desktop space the 1440p much better suits my needs.
I was watching my Son play Dying Light on the LG and was surprised to see that some of the menus and overlays were still depicting in a 16:9 mode, if that makes sense. Things like that just do not happen with a 1440p screen.

Overall the 29" was a good screen but handicapped with the lack of vertical height for me.

Yeah, seems to be a common comment with the 29" Super-wide screen. I think the 34" would be better but prices are nuts!!
