Yup exactly, it is a "fake" HDR monitor.

If you want a monitor with HDR, then you are going to be wanting the acer/asus upcoming monitor:

We thought TVs were bad for all the fake HDR badges, well you haven't seen anything yet, I be willing to bet that the whole "HDR" thing is going to be even worse for the monitor industry

No idea but they are both using the required tech. in order to achieve proper HDR on LCD based screens i.e. 384 full array local dimming zones:

LG call it HDR Pro which confuses matters more.

I've experienced HDR on my 4k TV and whilst it does make the image look good I wouldnt buy a new monitor just because its got HDR I would see it as a bonus feature and not an essential.

does anyone know if it will be any good for editing video shot in hybrid log gamma via a panasonic gh6 ( which the BBC use in there broadcasts ) also supports rec709 ? or would i be better getting a proper HDR monitor.
