LG L226WTQ gradient problem.

Any colour banding on this gradient? -

ok i saved that image on my desktop moved it about (up and down actually)

i tried to take photo using my phone



when static



and when moving again




have you tried calibrating the screen as well at all?

Yeah I can see the banding there clearly. Very odd that it should happen on moving images and not stationary ones. All I can think is that it's due to the overdrive in some way, or maybe some other processing the screen is doing. The same thing doesn't happen on my laptop screen which is also a TN panel (but without overdrive). You could see if there's a way to turn overdrive off in the monitors OSD to see if that helps, but of course that slows the screen down to 6-8 ms instead of 2 ms.
 
I also have this screen (i love it :P). When playing games on it, CoD4 on the 360 for example, I get the same colour banding, again only when movement is on screen, I thought it was an annoyance at first but I've just lernt not to notice it, I'll have a look at disabling overdrive when I get back from uni this evening.
 
it could be a fault, i might consider contacting lg for a replacement

come on you guys with this LG, let me know if you got the same problem

I don't know what LG call their overdrive in the OSD and whether they let you turn it off. Probably called something to do with acceleration, speed or motion, at a guess. It might not be overdrive causing it though, just try experimenting with all the setting. Chances are with 2 of you having this problem that they all do.

If there's no setting that fixes it, you would probably be better off returning the screen than getting a replacement. By going down the replacement route, you could be closing off other avenues like distance selling regs, RMA through retailer etc.
 
i have one of these monitors, and i had the same problem. Basicly Turn your monitor off and turn it back on again, but this time hole the menu button at the same time. A new menu should appear and change the panel type to.....i think 224 something 4L. It changes the panel to the 22ich. The monitor has pre set settings for different sizes.
 
not at home yet, i try when i get home, fingers crossed it will work.

EDIT: got the menu and options are LPL22W.G.4 and LPL22W.4 and CMO22W.4, switching between them dont seem to change anything :(

22LS4 and 226 are both 22", I guess what that setting does is set the software to 22LS4 mode (probably both screens have the same software) and disables some feature the 226 screen is doing which caused the banding. Of course it's important to check there's no downside, for instance if it does disable something like overdrive then the response time will be slower and the screen will blur a little more, which would have to be balanced against the benefit of fixing the banding (the 22LS4 is 5 ms, the 226 is 2 ms, the only difference being overdrive).

edit:just seen your edit above, those look like panel types not screen models. CMO for instance is one of the LCD panel manufacturers, presumably the other two would be LG panels. Unlikely they would differ much, they'll all be 6 bit TN panels, and none of them should have banding.

other settings are CLEAR ETI, AUTO COLOR, AGING and NVRAM INIT but agains no differnce when switching between them :(

so i just leave it at one of them LG ones see what happens. this monitor is really ****ing me off :mad:
 
Just to add I have 2 of the above screens and both have this banding problem.

i fixed the ghosting problem by changing the panel type in service menu

If you google for ghosting problems, theres a forum thread that will help you fix that

but the banding problem remains
