LG now has 5 year warranty (Burn in is covered!)

Ah well a size increase is always worth the dosh - tempted to do the same at the moment :D

Yep it's the main reason for the CX purchase and they aren't a bad price at the moment. I suspect stock will dry up soon as well, which leads the 2021 models and those are fair bit more in price.

I noticed burn in on my LG OLED55B7V just after the standard 12m warranty expired, neither LG or John Lewis would do anything - all LG offered was to replace the screen for £999 (about 2/3 of the cost of the TV!!!) and tried asking John Lewis to do a part exchange on a replacement set (allowing for the use I'd had out of it) but they wouldn't offer anything.

I ended up trading it in for £1k off a 65" Samsung QLED (with 10 year burn in guarantee) in a promotion they were running a while ago for anyone with TVs suffering from burn in.

Really put me off buying anything LG in the future.
Completely off topic, but impressive lurking my friend. Very impressive indeed!

I'm thinking maybe I should get some cover for my BX, especially using the Xbox there is quite a lot of static images sometimes and if I use any TV apps on it when paused the screensaver doesn't work.

Mad really, you'd think with OLED TVs been common in the wild MS would have added a simple screen saver.
I thought it did dim the screen. I'm sure if I pause a film on my ps4 it dims after a while. I realise a ps4 is not an xbox, but you'd think they'd offer the same basic features.

I paid extra at John Lewis for the extended cover that gives burn in protection for my cx. Think mine may already need a panel replacement after 8 months.

Really? What has your typical usage been like during the 8 months? I also paid for the JL extra protect on my CX. One thing I noticed on mine.... people say when you turn it off it's meant to do the pixel refresh thing from time to time. I swear I have never seen mine do this. Is it the same as the screensaver thing or a different pattern?

Nope screensaver doesn't work on Xbox for some reason

That's normal for external devices. The C9 does not do it either with external devices, only dims the screen. It will show a screensaver on C9 on built in apps, but so do newer models so nothing different in that respect.

You will not see anything. It just does it automatically when you turn TV off after 4 hours of cumulative use, provided TV is plugged in. Nothing obvious. Then every 2000 hours will do a deeper refresh which lasts an hour. During that one you may see flashes' on the screen. You can force the TV to do the latter one, but comes with its own caveats in that it can reduce brightness so no need to run the deeper one purposefully.

You need to read up more on your consumer rights and be a lot firmer with the retailer.

They get away with it because people give up and don't persevere with complaints.
