Im looking for a case to use with about 3 harddrives (all water cooled), chipset watercooling, memory watercooling, gpu water cooling and cpu phase cooling. now i do like the lian li v1000 however the odd mobo layout is a bit off putting. i was wondering if this would interfere with my setup and if so is there another similar case, preferably the same kind of styling (in black) that would suit me better?

thanks

The motherboard is just mounted upside down so would not interfere at all, actually would make it easier to install the water cooling.

Why do you want to watercool your northbridge and HDD's

The hard drives will not need cooling, neither will the northbridge if you fit a aftermarket cooler, northbridge wb's usually restrict the flow throughout the rest of the system.

Just set a 120mm amber at 5v to cool all your hard drives, silent and up to the job.

But it is unecissary!

The v1000+ is a ideal case for watercooling, as is the v1200+ and the v2000+.

Just make sure you get a + version.

Buzz me on msn and I will offer you free councelling. :p

Got my GPU (7800gt) on a VF900 at 54deg load now, with no way bar heat rising for the heat to get out.

also with the wrong fan configuration the v1000 is also a quick way to cooke everything in your PC :/

(yep still not entirely happy :()

was planning on no fans - just psu one :) everything else will be WC'd and cpu will be phase cooled.

I never do understand people who want to watercool HDs or NB. Yes it may look cool but it adds more heat to the system so unless you have 2 loops or an uber rad your cooling efficiency for the CPU/GPU just goes down.

was thinking of using the asetek waterchill Xternal system which apparently is powerful :) also I could put 2 loops in i suppose. whichever is more effective really.

i used to watercool my chipset on my DFI, very worth it, brings the temps right down and theres no need for a whiney fan/hot passive cooling that heats up the video card.

I back those who say don't worry about the NB, and thinking about it wouldn't WCing the HDD be a PAIN, not to mention with the layout of a V1000 probably doable passivly anyway?

Heck most people don't even worry about cooling them.

I'd not feel happy either with a case with ZERO airflow flowing through it. I'd drop a passive Zalman on the NB and a slow 120mm fan in, heck if you passive the Zalman you may be able to go for an interioir solution and thus the fan for the rad will provide the airflow

well i like the idea of an external solution, as an internal solution means radiator inside = less space = more heat etc. or else i'd have to custom mount the radiator outside the case which im not generally very good at! WCing the HDDs wouldn't be too hard, just shove in a couple of HDD blocks and voila - also HDDs will be in 5 1/2 inch bays. I don't want any fans except for the psu fan, as i dont like them - fans = dust lol!
I'd like to WC the NB as it can get hot and it makes heavier OCing more stable and as im going to have phase OCing is a must!

any views on the asetek external system? Or custom building a system with EASY external radiator mountings?

thanks

why not just plonk the rad on the top of the case with the fans drawing air out from in the case.

your temps wont suffer that much if at all. everything will be watercooled so there wont be much heat rising through the case.
