A bit late to this. If you're still looking there are a few options.
Up until around last year there was an amazing free bookmark manager called
Pocket, a Mozilla product. Pocket supported browser extensions and apps for iOS and Android with offline viewing. After Pocket shutdown I tried
Raindrop but it wasn't the same experience, I don't remember what I didn't like, maybe I just wasn't ready to let go Pocket.
A few months ago I dusted off an old computer and tried self-hosting. One of the first apps I wanted to install was a bookmark manager to replace Pocket. A popular app is
Linkwarden, which I installed, it was a close replacement for Pocket but I found a lot of my saved bookmarks didn't open in a reader view. This is an important feature if like me you save bookmarks on a PC to later read on a phone and want to cut out ads and other distractions. The page is presented like an eBook.
The next app I installed was
Readeck which for now is a keeper. The only thing missing is offline mode for the Android app, the iOS apps support this. Every saved webpage opens in reader mode. Another nice feature is creating collections based on the URL, labels or notes you've attached, author etc. Readeck also has a feature to export saved articles to epub to read on a Kindle.
