Life in the UK Test

I'm a South African living in the UK on Ancestral visa, I've got to sit my test soon for indefinite leave to remain amoung that I've got to do a English test... Kinda sucks.it's all a money making scheme...

20/24
21/24
19/24

For the first three tests. Can't be arsed going any further if every one of these is just gonna throw history questions in that isn't useful and people for the most part aren't going to know unless they covered the right areas of history at school (and were actually paying attention)

If it's still anything like my later school day's, I was learning a load of American history, in my history classes!
I hated it, incredibly boring.

Yep. American West. Oh and the industrial revolution. Again, for the third time.

Friends at a different school who used a different exam board got the 1st World War. Now that looked interesting.

Since the test is derived from a handbook anyone can pass the test by reading said handbook. So in essence this is simply a comprehension test.

I think a much better set of questions would be:

1. Are you a terrorist (yes/no)
2. Have you ever injured yourself whilst setting up an IED?
3. Think back to the last infidel you beheaded. How did it make you feel?
4. If you are granted leave to remain, will this make you i) slightly less inclined to kill the infidels, ii) more inclined to kill the infidels, or iii) no difference.

Much more useful.

I know. Why are TV shows part of the test ? TV is such a trivial part of UK life and I'm baffled as to why it should be included.

Really? You're baffled? It's a significant part of British culture. Particularly those shows which are watched by millions, if not tens of, on a daily basis!
