Life on Mars

If you're going to be picky, then the ring on the trim phone wasn't quite right!

Anyway, there was an article in one of the papers a couple of days ago by the guy who did all the research for the show and he was saying that the levels of police corruption then were astounding. They could just beat a confession out of the suspect and that would be it, no come back, no tape recordings, nothing.

By the way, for those 'mature' enough to remember, what did happen to white dog poo?

I looked it up on google (prompted by this show) and apparently white dog poo is just normal dog poo that's been left on the pavement for far too long and had dried out in the sun, doesn't happen now due to the laws about allowing pets to foul in public and the improvements to street cleaning. Whether this is true or not I don't know but was the best explanation I could find.

Also the DVD box set is coming out 2nd of october now, looks like they have bought it forward few months. All looking good..

also they start filming next series in april sometime and can expect the second series before christmas sometime.

LOL - not true. The whiteness is due to high intake of calcium and the lack of white poo is because butchers aren't allow to sell (or give) bones to people for their dogs.

BTW: Life on Mars - FANTASTIC show, one of the better ones in recent years - Gene Hunt is my hero :D

Very good (and clever) ending to the first series this evening, tied everything up well but still gave a reason for it to continue without leaving it on a cliffhanger.

BBC should be very pleased with it's efforts and I'm looking forward to the second series.

I have watched most of the series and I must say it has been plesantly suprising. They haven't hammed it up too much, no playing for laughs. The acting has been good and the plots have been suitably subtle and have moved the overall plot on well.

The Beeb can produce some great and innovative drama when they put their mind to it.

Good show imo. Post-modernity in full effect, and clever with it. Not the best ending to the series though i didnt think.

I wonder how many alternative endings were filmed, originally it was going to be one series wasn't it.
Last nights episode was more serious than usual, most of the sweeney style mick taking was absent baring a completely unnecessary handbrake turn outside the Hotel when they first found his father.
I have loved this series, found it very funny and nostalgic, it has brought on fond memories of The Professionals, The Sweeney and so on. This and Doctor Who have been absolute triumphs, someone at the Beeb is stuck in the 70s, it's great.
