After Breaking Bad I had the same problem looking for extended narrative TV series so watched the following:

The Wire (great)
The Shield (great)
The Sopranos (great but started to drag, haven't finished it yet)
House of Cards (great, Season 2 especially)
Homeland (great)
The Walking Dead (decent)

All of those were great IMHO. The Walking Dead is probably the weakest but mainly because it's clearly 'network' TV. When I've finished TWD I'll probably watch Boardwalk, heard good things about it

Oh yeah BSG I keep meaning to watch that, must have watched the pilot 3 or 4 times now and never queued up the rest of the series I think it's because the series spinoffs (Caprica?) confuses me, which is the best way to watch it?

Hannibal could topple breaking bad. really is progressing.

the art , just little touches many may miss is beyond breaking bad already.

thing is there are many series which are as good as breaking bad.

I watched the first few episodes of Sons of Anarchy, and just found it unbelievably dull. Does it get better?

First couple of series were ok, but I gave up on I think S4 about half way through, my brother gave up a couple of episodes earlier, and my father at about the same point.
I've heard from various friends they also gave up around that time :/

It went downhill really fast in about S4 or 5.

The Shield and The Wire are both excellent, I just found it awkward watching in 4:3 instead of 16:9. Boardwalk Empire is very dark but well put together.

Ha totally, my wife has just started watching Buffy - so 90s, so 4:3

I thought the same with the Wire and Shield but tbh after a few episodes you forget about the format.

I would firstly recommend the wire although can feel a little dated its second to BB for me other shows US office is great also something I think the girlfriend would enjoy. Im watching the walking dead atm decent show. Game of thrones, dexter, sopranos, the Oz, prusion break, luther theres plenty of shows anything in particular your after?

also you should have saved BB until last makes it even better after seeing the likes of dexter.
