Since about 4-5 months after having my iPhone 6 the lightning port has been somewhat dodgy, you have to wriggle the lightning cable in the bottom of the phone to get it in the absolute correct position to charge and if you knock it or move it ever so slightly it just stops charging which is massively annoying. It also means you cannot really use the phone whilst it is charging as it just constantly buzzes and vibrates in your hand as the phone begins charging then stops then starts again as the wire is moved.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible there is something blocking the connections inside like dirt? I'd rather not have to go to an Apple store and get it replaced/repaired as there isn't an Apple store in my city or anywhere near me and would mean a couple of hours drive each way too.

I had a similar problem with mine but I noticed there was a little dirt on the cable connector, have you checked that?

Yeah I use several different lightning cables that are dotted around the house for other iPhones and iPads and they all work fine in other devices, just my phone that has problems.

Fluff in the port.

Get some stiff paper/card and make a pokey thing and scoop all the fluff and crap out. I think you'll be surprised how much you get out. :]

Haha thanks, is it like the bellybutton of the iPhone!?

I'll give it a try later, its currently on charge so cant disturb it yet.

Yep check for fluff in the port, same with the headphone port as well. Had the same issue a few weeks ago myself. Used a small pin to pick the fluff out and it was fine.

I had to use a pin in the end it was the only martial thin/strong enough to do the job, just wrap it in some tape or similar if you're nervous about doing any harm. Although as long as you turn off the device and/or don't intentionally short any pins you'll be fine anyway.

I had this problem on my old iPhone 5, I took it into the Apple store, the guy used a sim eject pin to clear the fluff out, I've done the same too without it causing any problems.

it's definitely fluff / pocket lint in the port. It's a common problem and happened to me with all my iphones. I've used toothpicks or those little plastic individual flossing things. You have to be quite thorough as there's more in there than you'd expect. But once you dig about for a while your phone will charge perfectly again :)
