Adobe have now launched Lightroom 2.0 Beta.
is at a very early stage and the company recommends its use only for "kicking the tires," and providing feedback about the new features.

Im loving some of that new stuff! Multi monitor support, better intergration with photoshop (No need to write a tiff or psd file to move between the programs), LOCAL ADJUSTMENTS!!!! :D So now we have dodge and burn etc. Looking good to me.

I like Lightroom I did this course a while back and i had to make a website, i used lightroom to make the tabs and table borders etc, using blending options etc, was fun, i liked lightroom, was very compact and easy to use, unlike PS with all the things thrown at you..

Might give this a try when i get my cam, what prices are we looking at for LR?

Are you sure you used Lightroom and not Photoshop Elements? Your looking at around £140 for Lightroom. but buy your camera first before even looking at this, otherwise you'll be an old man before you get the camera.

Can this be run in parallel with the original copy of Lightroom or do you need to upgrade?

Its designed to be run in parallel without affecting the existing library. :)

Been dabbling with LR since the weekend...really new to it, and there are so many settings to fiddle with for my images it's quite confusing...but I'll grab the beta of 2.0 anyway...if it'll let me create an Adobe account...which it won't. :(

EDIT: Getting now. Sounds like it offers some good features. :)

Looking good :) I'll grab a copy when I'm home.

I currenlty use lr on a 24" monitor, which is pretty good, but I'm struggling to see how multi-monitor will help with the workflow. I might have to buy another one to find out :p

I use a 24"(widescreen) and a 19"(non-widescreen) next to it, and wouldn't be without the second screen. It makes everything so much easier as you can keep all the junk on one screen (MSN, winamp, random documents, icons, docks etc) and use the main big screen for work.

In lightroom it will allow you to have the filmstrip on one screen, and the main image on the other, giving you more realestate for the image in question.

Thanks MK... sounds excellent and should simplify workflow.

I do respect a company that listens to its market and responds.

This sounds like a great update. I’m very pleased at the addition of multi-monitor view as I find LR can be quite wasteful on space (well, compared with PS).
If it runs parallel to an existing LR install, can anyone give an idea how I’d go about ‘importing’ pictures to trial? In fact, my entire workflow probably needs addressing, but at the moment I would simply ‘import at current location’ and go from there.

Im loving some of that new stuff! Multi monitor support.

 A week after I sell my Dell 2405.

I like the sound of dodge and burn - that will be good.

Do we know if this is going to be a free upgrade for existing LR users when it's released or are they charging?

Think I'll give the beta a miss but good news MK cheers

One thing I hate about LR is having to export to Tiff before you can edit in PS, this leaves a tiff and a cr2 in the library! not good!!!

Will try 2 now as this sounds awesome cheers!

Ok I can't find the option to not create a tiff when opening in Photoshop! I edit in CS3 , it creates a tiff, I make a quick change and save changes then close...tiff stays !
