Lightroom 3 Released

If it were £100 cheaper I would definitly buy it the trials were great but for a home hobbyist it a damn expensive peice of software.

So, the cheapest I've found the boxed upgrade including p+p is £72.99 from a rainforest on pre-order. It's £80 through Adobe but I guess they can dispatch now.

Anyone else found cheaper?

I quite liked the beta, I'll be a longtime saving for the release though :(

I'd love to know through a poll of all the photoshopers on here who actually uses legit software. I don't pp yet other than the free DPP and whenever I look at the price of software I think it's mad.

Surely they could learn a lesson from the price on pre-order for windows 7 to get more people actually buying their software for home use. I literally know of no one in real life who actually has legit copies of any of these post processing tools outside of the workplace.

Surely selling these items lightroom and photoshop for home use for £80 each would generate them a lot more money than they currently make?

I'd buy it, its an awesome piece of software, but the current pricing is prohibative to say the least. I'm actually tempted to buy it at the current price but it'll have to wait a few months at least.

Yeah having access to it through work is good. Although in 2 and a half months that goes! Mind you if I don't get another job sharpish it wont really matter as I'll have to sell all the camera gear anyway! :D

Lightroom is one of the more reasonably priced bits of specialist software out there. I think the cost of Photoshop is too high, and Elements is too stripped out in comparison.

I bought Lightroom right at the start when it was cheaper - think it was half-price for upgrading from the initial beta, and have just paid the upgrade cost for version 2 and now for version 3. £80 is a reasonable cost for that I think.

The way I see it, the full price - £230 or so - is a lot less than most decent lenses and is just as useful and flexible.

I have a legit copy of CS4, and really like it.

But I also love Lightroom, and use Lightroom 2.5 (got this and CS4 very cheap whilst at uni).

Now I really want LR3, but alas cannot afford it.

Technically if you're still using a student license and you're no longer a student... you're breaking the license agreement. I had this with Microsoft products anyway, Adobe may be more forgiving.
