Lights for over dining table

Want some hanging pendant lights over the dining table but trying to decide over having bare bulbs, some sort of shaped glass shade or the more traditional pendant shades that angle the light down.

I like the look of fancy bulbs but wonder if it’s better to have the light angled down so it’s not in your eyes.

Anyone have any thoughts/experiences?

I’m thinking more hanging ones closer to the table and maybe using separate fittings to spread them across the table more
