everything that posted always seems to labelled "homogay" ATM, we might just as well have a homogay responder to every post but I guess that would probaby be too "homogay" :D

I thought Phantom Menace was worth the entry price for the Maul fight alone..I've always loved the idea of lightsabres :)

When I was young I sort of melded my two favourite things into a cool 'don't mess with me' posture..With my lightsabre drawn (A table leg) I'd utter to anyone that came near 'Don't make me angry...you wouldn't like me when I'm angry'

Lou Ferringo had a lot to answer for...

Ryan vs Dorkman is a great saber fight - visual effects geeks like me have seen this film years ago :) They weren't fighting with ForceFX sabers - they were using aluminium rods. The effects were done in Adobe After Effects, it's a fairly simple method of a four-point mask keyframed, duplicated and blurred. I've done it myself loads of times.

just started using premiere, and in process of downloading after effects trial. how simple is simple then?

Once you've got the hang of it it's easy. If you're going to get into visual effects matte creation by masking is soimething you're going to have to learn anyway.

Basically it involves using a tool to create some points around your lightsaber prop (or in the case of my video, just guessing where a lightsaber would be in the abscense of a prop blade). You then set this to keyframe, and go through each frame of your footage, moving the four points to where the lightsaber is in that frame. Time consuming, but not as time consuming as the method for doing them in the original trilogy!
