Linkin Park are back!

I'm glad they feel ready to move on. I can't say I've heard of Emily but like her vocals. She'll never be Chester but that's for the best. I'm glad they went for a radical change instead of trying to replace him like for like.

New song is pretty good, certainly like it more than anything off the last album.

I'll give this a proper listen later tonight.

My concern about the new female vocalist is that they might sound too similar to Evanescence, whom I've always felt were a Linkin Park clone with a female lead.

Maybe that's not properly justified, but I haven't listened to loads of Evanescence as they always felt a bit meh, but from what I have heard it's always been very Linkin Parky.

I don't think I've heard Emily Armstrong before so I've got no idea how she compares to Amy Lee, hopefully totally different.

With what I know of her from Dead Sara, I'd say shes got the clean vocals for Chesters sung parts but not the scream (she can scream but it's very dffferent and I'm not sure it fits)

So I'm not sure how I feel about the old material with her, but I think more songs written with her vocal style and strengths in mind can be great.

Like the new track, like others have to approach this as a new beginning - and let's face it, you just wouldn't be able to replace Chesters sound like for like.

Looking forward to a new album!

She really isn't anything like Amy Lee from what I've heard. Rather glad I booked Download tickets now, fully expect them to be there :D

She doesn't have a bad voice, and they're keeping the same style of music with the new stuff.

I don't think it'll work with her singing their old songs as is (assume they'll still play their backlog as that's what people know them for), but maybe they're reproduce some of the songs to better fit their new setup.

Meh, it's okay but sounds quite generic if I'm being completely honest. That said, I was never a huge fan of Linkin Park anyway but could still appreciate how good Chester was.

LP had lightning in a bottle for a time and like so many bands they peak and then just become a derivative version of themselves. Part of these "Phenomenons" will always be unquantifiable and outside of the bands control...impossible to sit down and try to work out how to get it back once it's gone.

I was late to the party, was lucky enough to see them Live in 2003 and they absolutely blew me away. I got obsessed for a time after that.

I just can't hear the magic in this but I hope they love what they are doing.
