Hey peeps, seeing as I'm running 32-bit Windows on a 64-bit processor, would I be able to set up a dual boot of Vista32 and Ubuntu 64-bit without much in the way of problems? It needs to be Ubuntu as that's the version we need to know for Uni work. Thanks in advance :)

Edit: been reading up, but I'm not sure about something. Basically, what is the difference between Ubuntu and Kubuntu? Ta again!

Ubuntu uses Gnome, whereas Kubuntu uses KDE.

The OSes don't care what the other one is, you'll be fine running them alongside each other.

Lots of things, it comes down to personal preference.

KDE is more like Windows I would say, but if you've never used either, it doesn't matter which one you start with.

Yeah, Ubuntu is the friendly starter choice. Plenty of support for it if you run into any problems, from either here or Ubuntu forums.

Quick update - just downloaded Ubuntu 7.10, and am messing around with the Live CD at the mo. Will try a full install when my new hard drive arrives - want separate drives for Windows and Linux.

That's good thinking. I've had bad dual boot experiences from shared partitions. I keep them on completely separate machines now!

The Live CD won't be anywhere near as quick as the proper install you'll be pleased to know :)
