Hi guys,

I have an E6600 and have been running the winsmp client for...I'd say about 15 minutes...I've noticed a lot of you run linux in vmware and use the linux client instead. Is the linux client that much better? even with the vmware overheads?

Any info or example benchies would be appreciated.

Hi there :)

Yip the linux SMP client is better, even with the VMWare overheads. Far more stable too.

But it does use quite a bit of RAM. ~500mb for a single client and ~700mb for a pair.

The Linux SMP client requires a 64bit Linux distro.

EDIT: All the info you could need is in my SMP Guide. The Guide uses 64-bit Ubuntu but a lot of the steps are the same across distros.
