List of Cancelled PS3 Games

Well yes, cancellation of games is never going to be a good thing is it?

lol, Nismo does have a point.
There is no anti-Sony point-of-view in the original thread, it merely states facts. If facts put Sony in bad light then so be it, but this doesn't even do that.

Someone had a go at the OP in another thread, again for reporting news.

Developers said this about the PS2 - and look what happened , outsold and outlasted the xbox ( even thought the xbox was newer)

This could actually work in Sony's favour in the fact that less crud is being developed and so every single game has its merits for some / all fans

At the end of the day even if every single person on this forum ignored the ps3 - its still likely to sell pretty well and if GT5 and a few other PS3 only games are "must haves" it wont matter how much it costs

For an example GT4 took me around 35 - 40 hours to complete, now working on that basis and the cosft of the console and the game is approaching £475, so you are paying £15/hr where you can pay £6/hr (for a short film) at the cinema

Thats just for one game

Buy two or three games over the life of the console and you are approaching the equivelant cost of a cinema ticket but with hardware you can do a lot more with..... badly explained but not that unreasonable

May want to tone this down a bit, and get back on topic without so much moaning, we are not in GD! :p

I have a high end PC, a 360, will get a Wii at launch hopefully and will be looking into a PS3 once they are regularly available with some games I want.

Nothing wrong with the console, it will be a big console regardless on the back of the PS2, may lose some of its market dominance but it still will be a huge console.

Price is a little high, but with anything if you use it enough it could be good value for money.

yep and most of them have nothing to do with OP and why developers have cancelled the ps3 games listed

Fear & Respect:
The game is the earliest cancelled game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.So you can add this one also to the PS3 list also then if you want to be picky about it.

also "It was believed that the game has been cancelled because of growing competition within the urban-themed video games market" and nothing to do with console high price and development costs

Frame City Killer:
" failed to impress" - again nothing to do with nothing to do with console high price and development costs

James Bond 007: From Russia with Love:
looks to me it wasn't done simply due to it being a old game and not viable to do a port

Scarface: The World is Yours:
"unoffical cancellation of the Xbox 360 version according to IGN's game details. Some sites still list the title as being released during the fourth quarter." - PS3 release date still unknown

The Sopranos:
"The game is set for a November release date for the Playstation 2 to coincide with The Sopranos Season Six: Part One DVD.[24] An Xbox 360 version was in development, but has been cancelled" - no ps3 version planned

Well, i havnt heard of any of the cancelled 360 games, and hadnt heard of most of the cancelled PS3 games albeit oblivion, conndemned, splinter cell.. so i dont think we are really missing out on too much.

Everything else (including this post) is needless filler.

Based on what? The console hasn't been released yet, so how is it a lost cause?

Kronologic said:
There are some simple facts that you need to accept.
1)The PS3 is priced outside of the gaming market

Says who?

Kronologic said:
2)Blu-Ray is as yet an unproven format and the market may accept an alternative

...and yet a large number of the major movie houses have backed the format... unproven doesn't mean that it won't succeed.

3)The Sony PR team seem to be selling a different console from the one the manufacturing team are developing.
4)There is a lot of negative press and internet feelings because Sony are so inconsistent with their messages
5)If the only news we receive is bad news then how are we to blame for passing that news on?

Granted, but we have to remember that bad news tends to be communicated at a much greater rate than good news. Everyone like to see the 'Tall Poppy' hacked down, hence the term "Tall Poppy Syndrome" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tall_poppy_syndrome). Correct, you aren't to blame for passing on the bad news, but some responsibiliy for taking (or not) the news as gospel is perhaps needed. The media like to kick when you're down and in my opinion we should try to be alittle more open minded...

they deserve to go down for their high prices, and stupid ideas like atrac, and no mp3 in the earlier players
If every company went down for silly mistakes there wouldnt be any left would there? Microsoft and Nintendo included

I'm not saying the console is a lost cause, just the arguments DD (and El) decide to create, are over lost causes.
e.g. It has been stated that the PS3 will have similar operational levels to the 360, someone will always come in and say "You are Bashing the PS3 and anyway it will be loads better than the 360". Yet the evidence provided suggests otherwise.
I am not saying the PS3 is a POS, but I have my reservations. I personally believe I have a good understanding of the console market and a good idea ahead of time on what will do well. an example of this is the dreamcast. Everyone around me was telling me that it was going to be the best console of the generation. I said I was going to wait for the PS2. When asked why I was not waiting for the Xbox, I said I felt the PS2 would have a better share of the market and would dominate the Xbox. So I would get the PS2 and wait and see with the Xbox. Which I did. (I think I got a GC before the Xbox tbh.)

Most people, if you look at a consensus of this board (people that spend extortionate amounts of money on their computers) most people feel it is overpriced. If most people agree that the console is above there spending ability then it is outside the market.

I previously thought that BR would be the winner this time, check back in the history of the forums and you will see I was originally backing BR and thought HDDVD would not make it. I have now changed my mind, after hearing recent reports including technical specs and estimated dates of release. TBH I do not expect either to do particularly well, with DVD's still being the dominant force in the market. Look at SACDs they are technically superior to CDs and yet they are not selling as well (this could be down to marketing). MD was by far superior to tape, again it did not sell well.

Sometimes its best to see what the market wants, not what you want to sell to the market.

Personally I could not give a damn about who is "Tall Poppy". I want good value for my money, I do not want to feel mislead or lied to.
I have no one good reason to buy a PS3 and certainly do not have lots of reasons for wanting one. Products like the PS2 MD player PSP have all offered me something I want. The PS2 and MD totally met my needs the PSP has left me disappointed thus far. I suspect if I bought a PS3 on release I would be bitterly disappointed and steer clear of Sony permanently.

I will wait and see with the PS3 and when the price is right I will buy one, if it proves successful. But unlike with all of its previous consoles I am wary of Sony's ability to capture the market.

It is my opinion that they have made one too many mistakes in this generation of console and have taken their consumers for granted, and then taken the Mickey. Especially in the PR department. Nintendo IMO did this with the N64 and have paid the price of having to give up its share of the market to Sony. Sega made similar mistakes with the Saturn and the Dreamcast. They lost their share of the console market all together.

I worry the same may happen to Sony, and whilst at the minute I would not be too bothered, I know full well it will be a devastating blow to the industry.
Sure there will always be new console makers vying to enter the market, but I think we need a powerhouse such as Sony to keep MS in check, and Nintendo innovative.

So if it comes across that I am anti-Sony and anti-PS3, it is because I feel let down by this company. If the PS3 is as good as I think we all hope it will be then that is great. As I have said many times, I will buy one when it is affordable. However if it is no better than the 360 or does not have the games that interest me, then I will wait until it is under £150 before considering it.
