List your crashes

Thats my history. 6 accidents, 5 when i was stationatry, two when not even in the car. Three write offs. Every one classed as a no fault. Not bad as it all happened in about 3 months.

wow badger, thats some serious bad luck there... you don't smash mirrors for a living or something do you?

i still dont think they are that bad i was just unlucky
ive been riding from the age of 8 and on the road on my 16th birthday im 40 now
like i said it was only 30 mph ive come off pushbikes worse lol
you want real scary when i was in hospital there was more people who had fell down a couple of stairs and paralized than any other accident

Thats the thing that annoys me about anti-bike people. calling them organ donors, etc. or that motorbike = synonym for death But accidents happen in all walks of life.

My worst accidents in my life in general have been on push bikes, not anything else. This was admittedly when I was a nutcase child doing 40mph on bmxs down hills.

Surely you hit something when you crashed to sustain those injuries?

nope just swisted as i hit the ground
i was worrying more about my bike untill i went to get up
and there is still more car deaths on the road every year than any other form of transport [ more of them on the road though]

Think they look at statistics that say IF you have an accident on a motorbike, you are much more likely to die/sustain heavy injuries then in a car.

I knew of someone who had a head on crash on a country road where the other party died. It was round a blind bend. I think both were going too fast.

Made me think, on a bike, due to their small size, prob wouldnt have happened.

Paradoxically, sometimes a bike might make you live.

(obviously this goes both ways)

What would be fascinating to see would be:

1. Motorbike accident stats minus all those where biker at fault (eg principally losing it round bends)

2. Right turn violations minus excessive speed by biker.

This would give a true indiction to asess risk.

Shocking stuff. A mate of my brother's who is also one of my mate's mates* lost his leg on a bike by going under a lorry. Once he was out of hospital and about again he got another bike and carried on as if he hadn't lost his leg.

*Just making the point of not being 'a mate of a mate'

Can you ride a bike with one leg?

Don't see why not, just need to move either rear breaks (if the bike has abs I am not sure it even matters that much) or adapt gear shift to I guess either the other side maybe if its possible?

Plus with a prosthetic leg left leg you can still down shift fine. Ok, up shifting might be an issue, but id have a guess some bikes have already been modified for that.

1 accident about 4years ago, totally my fault, absolutely gutted about it, because it was stupid and could have been avoided.

Waiting in traffic, edging forward, stop start, stop start. Anyway took my eyes of the road as a bunch of kids up to no good caught my attention and I ended up going in the back of an old Land Rover at about 10mph, maybe not even that.

Anyway, she had the tow bar on the back and that made a right mess of the front of the car. Needed a new bonnet, new front bumper, new front grill, new radiator. Cost 3k (all that for a 10mph bump). Not a scratch on the bl**dy Land Rover. Couldn't believe it. I bet she never even uses the tow bar.

Anyway only good that came out of it was that some **** had put a massive scratch on top of the bonnet a few weeks back so at least that got sorted.

Premium didn't go up and I had PNCB so it didn't move either.

Crash 1:
Fiesta 1.25lx
Work Go Karting event, still with an adrenaline rush.
Trying to catch up a friend in a FiestaST.

Driving down A130/A131 which is a NSL road with loads of roundabouts.
At the 4th roundabout i found i had no brakes left (fadded) and narrowly missed hitting the center part of roundabout but understeered wide. Instead of hitting the kurb sideways, i straightned up, and aimed between a lamppost and a road sign. BANG i hit the kurb at 40mph, 2 flats, 1 dented and 1 cracked wheel. i ended up "parked" up the embankment.

My mate turned around at the next roundabout to rescue me, Used his 15inch spare, and my 14inch spare to get me home. One of the karting guys passed us too, and said this isnt the first time it happend... We couldnt even change the wheels for 10minutes because they was so hot.

Felt so bad, because id been so lucky. What if i had clipped the center part of aroundabout and rolled. What if i had come up to this roundabout and found a car coming around full with a family. So many what ifs, but i totally got away with it really. £100 for 2 tyres and £40 for a new wheel really wasnt that bad considering i could have killed a few people.

My lession was learned that night, because i know if it happens again i wont ever be that lucky.

Nothing too serious here.

1: A week after i passed my CBT had bought a nice Yamaha Enticer 125CC with 100 miles on it. was pouring rain and i was stupid enough to go out in a suit and helmet... car in front stopped so i grab the brakes and realise i'm not stopping, pull a bit harder and the front locks and i go down. Managed to lift the bike off me when cars behind beeping... get it started and continue to work. a bruised leg where my keys were and a bruised ego. (bought a good set of leathers that same day, i learned my lesson).
no damage to the bike bar a scratched bar end.

2: On my Honda Shadow on the A13 just before Rainham turn off traveling about 30-40 ish and a car pulls out to change lanes and catches the rear end. I go down with the bike, that one hurt. i spent the afternoon in A&E. Came away with a bruised ankle only (gear took all the damage). Bike had a bent rear brake lever, broken right mirror scuffed front fender. the leather panniers didn't have a mark on them for some reason.

No accidents on my Fazer in the year i have had it so far. (well apart from some stationary offs).

As a passenger in my Dads old Vauxhall Carlton, he came round a corner and rear ended someone. Damage was a new front bumper, bonnet, lights and a couple other bits.
