List your crashes

wow badger, thats some serious bad luck there... you don't smash mirrors for a living or something do you?

It was more a student three months, first accident happened in the summer hols when i was in between first and second year of uni. Last going into Brent Cross Chirstmas shopping with girlfirend. So really thinking clearly was more like four months or so.

It so so complicated when an insurance company called and said Hello, we're calling in regard to your accident. Which accident I've had so many you must be more clear.

Since then not had a scratch (excluding stereo being nicked a couple fo times) in the past 10 years.

forgot about this one, a few days after i passed my test, was dropping a mate off, reversed around the corner and gently reversed into a car. felt really really guilty, it was in a cul-de-sac so i got the right house after trying the 5th. was an older guy in a wee fiesta, we both stood around examining damage, thankfully there was absolutely nothing. imagine trying to hit a car as slowly as you could. the guy was very sympathetic having done the same thing the day he passed his test. gave the guy all my contact details, and he said he was gonna get his mate to get the bumper off and have a look, see if there was any damage, and i would pay it out of my pocket. never heard anything from the guy, i think he thought i was genuine because i took a lot of effort to look for him.

only other wee incident was in the snow in november, iirc. big massive roundabout, was going a wee bit too fast enjoying the snow, bag slid out and i was counter-steering, not worried at all. hit a dry patch, front wheel caught and i spun round the other way. very slow speed spin, just a bit of adrenalie pumping

2 minor scrapes 1 my fault the other not my fault (IMO)

1st one - Parked outside a friends house waiting for him to come out, decided to reverse as my view was blocked by a tree. Didnt realise my friends dad had pulled up behind me and nudged his car. Scrape on my bumper no damage to his.

2nd one - Uni car park was coming out of a one way only section when an old bat of a woman in a ford fusion decided to turn down the bit i was coming out of, wasnt expecting it as its one way and cut the corner slightly to avoid hitting her car. Clipped a golf front left bumper with my rear passenger door and wheelarch. Got out of car, old bat oblivious and drove off! Left insurance details for the golf driver who rang me later that night and said "Ack sure its only a wee scratch, never worry about it!" :)

Crash one: In my mates saxo about four years ago, he was going far to quick and we went into a long sweeping corner loosing control about half way and straight into a house which was build right next to the main road. He ended up in the middle of the road, still sitting on the drivers seat and i woke up in the boot of all places.

Crash two: In my mitsubishi colt about two years ago, rallying down some back lanes showing off to one of my mates and hit a wet patch of leaves. Skid and hit a solid stone bridge at about 60 MPH and the air bag knocked me out for about 10 minutes.

I've had 2 crashes, although 1 was more of an 'off' than a crash. Had a couple of (very) near misses though so I'll explain them too lol

#1 (the off)
My old mk6 fiesta (1.25 Powahhh). I'd had it lowered 45mm and had some 17" wolfrace alloys put on (not chavvy I must add, looked just right and I wasn't going to do owt else to it)
Off I set to uni, get to the roundabout before the A19 at Thirsk and there is a t**t of a farmer hearding a load of cows across the road. But he only started hearding them across as he looked down the road and saw me 300metres away so I had to stop for them.
Not best pleased about waiting 5 mins and getting dodgy looks off said farmer, when I went past them I left it in 2nd gear for the roundabout...
Of course, the roundabout was rather wet and I lost grip as I passed the first exit on the roundabout (I was taking the second exit, straight over)
I put the clutch in which didn't do anything instantly, so panicked and lifted off - this sent the back end swinging to the right, which I caught but had counter-steered too much so it swung like a pendulum the opposite way.
This flung me round 270deg the other way and I narrowly missed a lamppost luckily just bumped up the kerb and stopped before going down a ditch.

Damage: my ego, new alloy needed and bent the hub a bit. Also the trackign was shot.

#2
After crash #1 I was more than ever in the frame of mind for a new car, so I eventually got my Leon :)

2 months after I bought it, me and a mate went to Xscape in Castleford to go skiing. For reasons I won't bore you with we ended up being 5 mins late and decided to go to Sheffield for a bit and hit Xscape in the evening.

En route back from Sheffield, joining the m62, get into the outside lane ~65mph. All of a sudden we're braking and my mate shouts "NATH!!" as I slam the anchors on emergency stop-stylee and come to a stop about 4ft from an Audi in front of me. Next thing I know *WHACK* some old bint in a vectra didn't bother braking, which wouldn't of helped as she was way too close to us.

Turns out a van had cut someone up 4 cars ahead of us, and each car in turn braked more heavy than the one before it - leaving me and the audi to stop dead (without hitting anything) and the woman to hit me and push me into the audi.

Damage: about £5500, new boot floor, bonnet, bumpers, grill bits and bits and bobs.

Near Miss #1 full car in my fiesta, go to overtake a friend and also an old biddy in front of her. Old biddy sees me pull out (not indicating, my fault although it was a clear road [not a valid excuse i know]) and for some reason brakes. My friend sees her chance to overtake and pulls out whilst I'm alongside her! (she indicated, but didn't look in her blind spot) I beep and go off the road a bit and slow down, she luckily has common sense and pulled back in.

Had it of been my other friend who was driving (lagging a mile or so behind) he only passed his test a week before hand and was not exactly a natural for driving - so who knows what would have happened if it was him!

Near miss #2

Lorry stopped with his indicator on to the left (parked up)

I go to pass him, suddenly he turns into the side road on the right (not indicating, I was indicating however)

Girlfriend screams her head off, I thankfully had good reactions and managed to squeeze into the side road he was turning into - at this point he was takign up both sides of the main road.

I bolt off and park up 5 mins later, my friend catches up (he was behind us but didn't overtake the lorry) and says I was VERY close and was chuffed that I had good reactions lol

1) 18yrs old, on my GP100 that I'd had a week. Crossed a set of green lights, and hit a pedestrian who had run out from the blind side of a bus. Said bus was pulled a good 10 feet over his give way line, and completely blocked my view of the pavement behind him. Needless to say he radioed for the police to arrive, and scarpered sharpish. Cost - £30 for new mirrors and levers.

2) same bike, a year later, a wet october evening. Approaching a set of red lights in the right of two lanes. Lane was clear, so accelerated as the lights changed. Was wondering why the queue in the left lane wasn't moving, and found out as a woman pedestrian ran across the lights into my path. I hit the brakes, bike went left, I went right, back first into a steel guard rail at 30. Result - Woman hysterical, bike scraped, me unable to walk for a week, and still having back problems 21 years on.

3) same bike, 3 months later. Approaching a set of green lights, noticing a black cab taxi sitting waiting to turn across my path. He waits till I cross the give way line before moving into my path, hitting me head on. Result - bike written off, taxi with a split rad and rad grill, and a broken windscreen where my arm hit it, me with a broken wrist and dislocated shoulder. Stopped riding bikes after that.

4) My second car, a Nova 1.3SR with tart kit. Racing a Pug 1.9 GTI down a country lane, go light over a hump in the road at 90, go lighter over a second steeper hump at 70, and and lose control on a patch of gravel as I'm hitting the brakes thinking "OMG this is stupid!". Car starts spinning, hill one side of the road, 30 foot drop the other. Car heads for hill, smack front first, bounces off spins again, hits hill again, this time back first. No injuries except to my pride, car cost £1200 to put right.

5) Same car, 3 months later. Overtaking a stationary bus, didnt see the mini pulling out of the junction on the right. Right side of my car totalled, mini written off.

Nothing then for 18 years, until some tool went into my right side trying to defy the laws of physics and occupy the same space on the island with his van that I was already in in my C2.

Only 1 crash.

Went out driving up in the brecon beacons. Was honning about and had my fun, so i was driving calmly along this B road went around the corner at 45ish, back end stepped out and flung me straight into a bank. Car hit the bank and flipped over, skidded for about 10 meters with the most terrifing sound ever.

damage: car written off Cat C or B

Poor road surface may have been a cause and near 0c temperatures, from the police point of view.

Only one crash, July 2007

I passed my driving test just about 2 months before this. I was restoring a 1980 Triumph Spitfire 1500 and put it through two MoTs whilst in my ownership.

I was going up a national speed limit road, having passed my test 2 months before and I was far too confident. It was absolutely bucketing it down, but I thought I would be fine...

So I then spot a corner...far too late. I brake my car as hard as I can down to around 30mph but this was still way too fast.

Cue my car aquaplaning on the road, despite all my efforts to keep it on the road, I come off the road and end up landing in a ditch. Good fortune prevented the car from rolling over - it was a soft top after all and had it rolled over, I wouldn't be here today.

I was seriously gutted. It took 3-5 hours to get out of the ditch and although I got out with a mere scratch, my car didn't get off so lightly.

My bonnet was crushed, my carburettors torn off the engine block, my headlight smashed on the field, my bumper bent, my front right wishbone bent, chassis bent and kinked and my radiator was hanging by a thread.

Not my most proudest moment. Complete write off and I went through the insurance with it and now have a higher premium for the next few years. The price I paid for being stupid and thinking I was a race car driver as well buying a not so practical car in the first place!

Thank fully, I have not had a serious crash in a long time...and I still regret what I did then to this day. That incident taught me to respect the roads and weather far more now!

that was a lucky save. any idea about the age of the brake fluid in the car at the time?

my gfs fester is about 4 years old now, ill be getting the brake fluid done soon because you never know when youre going to need the brakes like that

new pas fluid going in this weekend

probably 4 years old, no idea really. Changed it after that. To be fair i asked too much of the brakes really. Cant blame my car...

1 Accident in the work van. I was driving over the hills from a site visit and the road ahead was coated in mud from one of the fields, van slid into a ditch hit the bank on the left hand side of the road and then the right and ended up facing facing the opposite direction on the other side of the road. Managed to get out with a minor neck injury and bruised knee. Quite lucky I think!

This is the end result of a ‘car’ driver making two mistakes – 1. Not checking his blind spot and 2. Pulling an illegal (as per highway code anyway) manoeuvre on a roundabout.

Wont bore with all the details, I’ve posted it somewhere in Motors, but suffice to say I came of worst, and still have problems to this day, and probably will have for the rest of my life.

At least I got to buy a new R1 out of it though :D

Scort.

Over the years, I've had a few crashes & general incidents......

I managed to total my Mums XR2 Fiesta on Mothers Day of all days!

Managed to put an XR3i through a hedge backwards, sadly, the hedge had a brick wall behind it....

I have run over a few Phone boxes (with a truck) and other things put in my way.....

My best one was doing a tight turn behind a Retail Park one night to suddenly be blazed with light  - turns out the rear of my trailer had punched through the wall of the unit, demolishing about 45ft of brickwork! :o

Opps! :o:D

only 2 but i do it with style!! :D

2nd rear ended by uninsured driver in the scoob, £3000 worth of damage from a 10mph impact oops.

Car accidents: 2,
Bike accidents 3

1st car accident: Mini cooper 1.1 of raw power vs a mit. warrior. driving by a stupid blonde on her mobile.
Was driving back a mate from a work down a well known road near ogmore vale. this road was a well slopping down road, which had a cut face into the hill and a decent drop on the overside.
It was 8pm so it was pitch balck so i was sticking at 60 mph like the 3 cars behind me. When this dosey bint comes shooting up behind us then trys to over take all 3 cars just before a corner!!.
she get side by side of me when a big hgv comes crawling up the road. so instad of braking and pulling into the gap behind me she swerves into me firing ing me into the cliff edge. which then spune me back out into the main road and into the stone wall lining the side of road. luckly the hgv driver had slammed on the breaks and stop all of 2 feet short of me.
I tired to get out of the car but the impact had warped the door into a solid mess. I got taken to hospital in bridgend and got treated with mulitple deep cuts on my face and left arm. and fractured cheek bone from where i headbutted the sterring wheel and both ankles sprained. My mate had a fractured wrist and a sprained ankle.
she claimed that it was my fault to the coppers, she also tried to refuse to give the coppers her insurance details. she was done with driving with out due care and attention and for using her mobile whilst on the move and also for not having a seatbealt on or a valid mot. Cops mention that i would have been a lot worse if the previous owner " a chav" hadnt fitted a 16 point rally spec role cage and bucket seats with 6 ppoitn harnesses. so for once i actually like a chav.
I managed to get 4.5k in compensation out of her as i couldnt work for 2 months.
2nd car incident, a £300 renault megane classic less than a month later,
i was driving up the country roads to snowden mainly due to my friend so called map " a tourist guide to wales ..." so where headng up to snowden via every brown tourist place in wales
when we were heading through this random valley near to aberystwyh (if that how u say it) this women in a ******* suv comes down the hill taking up most of the road, so i move over so i'm stradling the hard shoulder, which has a lovely drop to the valley bottem.
Her excuse for the inciddent was her dog jumped on her lap and it shocked her into moving the steering wheel???.
she sharply turned into the side of of the renault punting the car off the road and down the side of the valley. we went about 50 meters down the valley to be stopped by a gaint oak tree.

No one was hurts just bruised and slightly ****ed off, all my cuts from earlier in the month have reopened so half my boddy is cover in blood, so 3 hours on a coach home covered in a blood stained jumper and matted hair.

Since then ive got a white volvo estate expolice havent had one accident or one person pull out on me :D

so after this i thought id get a bike...

1st bike accident aprillia rs125 vs a fiesta.
I was stopped at a set of traffic lights when out of nowhere this chavette racer girl plows into the back of me at about 35mph send me and the bike flying accrose the junction. worse thing was i hurt the bone in my arse some how couldnt sit down for days...

2nd bike accident honda vfr 400 nc30 vs field.
Simple case of me not being used to a more powerfull bike mise judged a hair pin and had to carry on down a runoff which lead to a field of long grass the bike hit a bump that flung me off. took my mate a coupple of mintues to find me after he stopped ****ing hm self laughing :rolleyes:

3rd accident honda vfr400 vs group attempted murder.
Where i live theirs this lovely piece of 60 mile hour rad thats been resurfaced withwhat i can only say perfection it just gives grip in any condition. only problem is theirs a cross juntion with no traffic lights and no slip road to build up speed, you can see where im going with this...
A guy pull out on me in a old classic cant rember what it was, but thier was no chance of me being able to brake in time so i was forced to floor it passed him to avvoid a accident only problem is some numpty behid him decide to turn out behind him, split secound later im in the air and the bikes flying across the road, i banged my head on the way down knocking me out for 5minutes. damge was, 3 broken ribs, both wrists smahed ot hell, collar bone snapped and compressed vertibre. their excuse was they didnt see me... my bike was bright red the lights were on and i was wereign a dayglow jacket over my leathers.
police calimed that they were in the wrong luckly and im still tring to get compo off the guys insurance to pay for the month i had to miss work ccos i could walk for long periods of time.

any way im know stuck with my volvo and waiting for next 3 month of my motorbike probationary to end till i can get a fll power 600
