Lit Fibre

I've had an email about a complete outage for maintenance between 01:00 and 03:00 on the 1st August, but I've not been noticing the problems described in here either.

They've had a least one of these maintenance periods before. Don't think they're all network. Not sure if this one is or not but I had the email too.

I had the same maintenance window last night, appeared to go off around 1:15am...

Is anyone having issues with websites loading slowly today? (or failing to load pictures) - Not sure if it's a network issue or just my work laptop being funny, but was working fine before the outage.
Download speed seems fine and youtube vids are loading ok, but seems very slow to resolve requests and giving up half way. :(

I've been having the same Google service issues. Slow to open the initial web pages and Youtube at times taking several minutes to start and then lots of thumbnails don't load in. Seems worse with Chrome. Affects my older smart TVs more x2. Also issues on PCs and phones.

I may disable the IPV6 services myself to see how that changes things. I had tried the usual power cycles and switching DNS settings before coming back to this thread to see it wasn't just my connection in Gloucestershire.

I disabled the 2 IPv6 services on the router and so far I'm not getting the loading issues with Google services so worth a try.

I had the issue in July with slow-loading of certain pages and after contacting Lit they disabled IPv6 on my router and that fixed it. Approx 7 hours following the planned outage, the issues came back again. About the same time I had an email from Lit following up on my July email saying they believed they fixed the IPv6 issue and was I seeing any problems? I reported back that the issues were back, and they said 'Unfortunately this did not have the desired effect, and we will continue to investigate and work on permanently resolving the issue.'. I got them to disable IPv6 again whilst they worked on the fix, which they did, and things are working as normal again for me in Gloucestershire.

Makes sense as we're probably on the same local loop :)

This tip also saved me from buying another router to play with though that doesn't usually stop me. Working now so not going to touch it.

I guess the Google IPv6 thing still seems broken for me. I had disable IPv6 on my PC but used a different computer last night and had trouble with YouTube. Sadly I don't use the LitFibre router so I feel if I moan they'll can just blame that.

I sent them a email reporting the problem again with the IPv6, had a reply back

Our Tier 3 team is actively working with Google on applying a permanent fix.

We'll update you once this issue is resolved.

Are you on different network segments to me? I get the below back if I do a WHOIS on my IP:

Code:
inetnum: 188.74.112.0 - 188.74.115.255
netname: East-Prefixes-2

Hi,
Just an update on the IPv6 issues some of us have been experiencing... LIT informed me today that they think they've fixed the issue so re-enabled IPv6 on my router again. I have tested the things I was having an issue with before, and they're no longer causing me a problem. I verified IPv6 had been re-enabled on my router, and it has been, so from my point of view it seems like the issues have been resolved :-).

Simon.

Currently with BT at the moment and my contract is up at the end of October so I'm looking at moving. The prices seem pretty good for the speeds (500 ATM) compared to my BT bills! What happens to the BT ONT? Do they remove it and fit their own or place it next to it?
