Little white lies to your wife

we also have a joint account and own money.. though the join account only consists of bills etc, a savings account where we put a set amount in each month and don't touch, mortgage covered by our tenants and everything else left stays in our own individual accounts.

Having said that, while the wifey loves being frugal, i'm pretty much the opposite, so she does crap out if i spend a bit too much... to the point i've managed to persuade her the new build cost me less than 1.5k when in actuality is 3k+:p

We don't check each others bank account so i'm safe. She would have a heart attack if i showed her my Paypal account.

Only other white lie aside from above is vaping too much

you sound like me. My new last new build definitely didnt cost £8k as obviously i used cheap second hand parts from the MM *cough

Anyone else do this?

I do all the time, nothing major.

Perfect example:

Get a text message, "Chris will Deliver my parcel after 08:06am"

Wife, "oh what are you waiting for?"

"Remote control car"

Wife, " How much did you spend?"

"£60"

.............£60 my arse lol.

Acceptable behaviour?

Plot twist, he's actually having an affair with Chris, and there is no delivery.

Never felt the need to lie to my wife about spending and I definitely wouldn't call it a white lie. We both know our family priorities on where we spend our money and she trusts that any big purchases won't impact on things like holidays etc.

An honest question for you all living with girlfriends/wives.

Who spend more and who earns more? You or them?

We earn within £1-2k of each other but due to her 'car allowance' which is essentially free money and with my student loan, the take home difference is about £350.

I'd say she spends more on a month by month basis on make up / clothes etc but I tend to buy bigger ticket items like a laptop or golf clubs so it's probably pretty even. I've been working from home since last March and I genuinely don't think there's been a day without some sort of delivery or parcel arriving.

I earn about 1.6 times what she does, but recently have been spending a lot more as I'm paying for all the rent, bills etc as she's on maternity pay now. I have literally no idea what she does with the money she gets though, it certainly doesn't come my way! But I still have just enough left over to live a decent life, 3 cars, new PC bits etc etc. Buckling down though as buying a house...

My 16 year old son likes to inform his mother (my wife none techie) of the price of the tech items I've bought and get delivered but he adds a least 40% on top of the price to wind her up and it works

Up side is when I have to tell her the real price she says "oh that's not at much as I thought it would be" :p

This is the way

She earns more and I buy more toys.
HOWEVER, she will just buy an £8000 car and say it's for us, we've had a totally new hallway with new everything plus two bedrooms all renewed but it's for us.
I can get by with a £1000 car and the way the house looked, waste of money in my opinion.

That's true here, I know we have savings, our Tumble Drier broke recently so I bought a new one out of the savings. As for what the balance is in that account, not got a clue, I don't even know what's in our general accounts & that's just fine by me.
Might persuade to do an accounting course so I never have to worry again

I just buy and do what I want an always have done. I don't really get this whole wife's permission thing. If it's a major purchase then yeah, I'd talk it through with her.
My mates talk about being allowed to game by their wives as "having a pass tonight". So sad.
