the game is on sale in Kuwait now and not the fixed edition, a muslim country - blooming typical
Its my understanding though (Ive checked with my sister) that actually music itself (or any form of entertainment) is actually frowned upon by Islam in stricter interpretations since its a distraction from Allah and really Muslims shouldn't really partake anyway.
So the question really is, why should it matter if there is excerpts from the Koran mixed in music when you shouldn't be playing the game or listening to music in the first place? I think its this type of hypocrisy that make such a situation for non-Muslims so hard to swallow...
LBP is not about being offensive in any way. The song was simply meant to be a theme for the african levels. Showing off material that was religious and dark was never their artistic intention.
Not only that but the lyrics were not really appropriate for the theme of the game or the rating(children friendly) and could possibly lead to a more expensive mess later with retailers and possibly angry customers/parents pulling the shots over material like that being included.
Seems like anything is an excuse to jump on Muslims these days.
I very much doubt Sony would have done such a publicity stunt that forces them to spend millions on a recall - completely understand if it had gone gold and then it was found out before distribuition/duplication...
At the end of the day I can forsee them just missing it - I very much doubt MM/Sony would have gone through the foreign lyrics of a song with a fine toothcomb when they were under the assumption it was ok since nothing had been raised about it in the 7 years its been published for...
It just boils down to an honest 'mistake'...

That's extremist Muslims for you.
so im a extremist right? quick go tell Mi5 theres a extremist on overclockers.co.uk
No offence, but the majority of people cant understand Arabic, or understand the Muslim connotations of that phrase. I very much doubt the select group of people who QAed the music selection (lets be honest its not going to more than a couple of people) might actually not be Muslim and therefore not pick up the issue...i think it was a stunt, as if the quality control people didnt pick up on this. i bet the songs get listen to before allowed on the game, and from what i heard the Quranic versus are clearly spoken, the quality control people must be looking out for words said in other languages that offend aswell.
about the millions spen on recall, they also spend millions and millions on advertising, this type of advertising is priceless. you get on the tv news radio newspapers the whole works, and what a great subject to pick....Islam something that all over the news anyway, maximum advertising conditions.
i dont know much about money and how much sony have but im guessing millions to them is like ten pounds to us normal folk, or do you think thats a exageration?
i bet you loads of ps3 owners who didnt know about lbp(and i bet theres loads) a lot of them now know about lbp.
Im sorry but thats a very poor analogy, since something pictorial traverses the language and potentially the cultural barrier.why should it matter, again it comes down to how much love you have for your faith. my faith says don't listen to music, right so im not complaining about music in the game, but when somebody starts to put my faith in with music, im not bothered if im never going to hear it, its like im not supposed to look at women, but now some company is advertising with a billboard of a half naked-woman with a Quran god forbid in the background, im sorry but this is unacceptable in my eyes. lets say you arnt allowed to look at billboards, you had a 5 year old daughter and she was put on a billboard in a negative way, i don't know what that could be, something bad happening in the background or something.. they never asked for your permission it just happened you knew nothing about it. then hear about it from your friend who knows your daughter but does not follow your not allowed to look at billboards thing, are you not going to complain? and even if you did look at billboards and saw it yourself are you not going to complain? of course you are. well this is how it is with us, we are supposed to love our faith more than anything else in the world, i love it enough to complain about this music thing.
very sorry OC mods for going off original subject

It maybe plain in the face to you, but its not to a non-Muslim...

Very true, Media Molecule is a tiny developer based in Britain, i doubt they have many Arabic speaking people in their staff at all, let alone one dedicated to quality checking the music.
I just get irked at people that whinge over the smallest of things.
Ok, you don't like the fact that your holy text is used in a song.... then don't listen to it or play games that use it?
Also a track that has been out years, i guess they didnt really think they needed to check the track as its available in shops/itunes etc. I Wonder if the song has been removed from those places? Or is it just because its "a game" that people complained about it?
smallest of things to you big big thing for me. dont my feelings count?
but it does seem double standards in favour of Muslims...
If we took everyone's feelings into consideration then we wouldn't be able to do anything. We have to cater for the majority in my opinion.
Unfortunately this is where morals/ethics and religion proceed as tangents. Its easy for someone to appreciate anothers moral standing, since its usually based on similar circumstances/experiences or a concious decision that can be deduced and understood. Whereas religion employs faith which to the majority of us (even dedicated religious people) is a very difficult concept to accept.nah thats not a nice way of looking at it, so who is the majority? cater for the majority even if they are wrong? you just dont realise how offending it is, if you did then maybe you would change your mind.

As I said above unless I understood Arabic and the Koran well a non-Muslim is very unlikely to pick up the issue and a Muslim shouldnt be even listening to it in the first place - therefore the potential issue is minute/inconsequential..
I dont mean to be rude and I appreciate the audience with you, but it does seem double standards in favour of Muslims...
Of course - might as well lose to as many people as possiblecan i add you to my playstation friends list, we can race on wipeout![]()
