LittleBigPlanet - Play, Create and Share.

Interesting:

http://www.mediamolecule.com/

We learnt yesterday that there is a lyric in one of the licensed tracks which some people may find offensive, and which slipped through the usual screening processes. Obviously MM and Sony together took this very seriously. LBP should be enjoyable by all. So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), we prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing disks.
Seems MM had a patch ready but Sony decided to do the recall/replace causing the delay. Shame...

£50 all in recorded delivery! Its gonna be a keeper im sure, it will be worth some money one day.
Hes only got 20 left!!!

Seeing this reminds me of back when I was really desperate for Forza 2, and paid roughly the same amount to get an austrailian copy about 2 weeks earlier than everyone else.

I'm not doing it again. I'm desperate for LBP but the beta has helped curb that a bit... lol.

Sucks about the recall tbh. Well at least there's Fable 2...

Well at least it will give them an even bigger marketing push for this game! With the TV/Web/Papers coverage it will probably get. Remember about 6 months after RFOM came out and all the issues with Manchester Catherderal? Sales went up massively lol, so i wonder if this will help sales even more? :D

quite surprised at all the 90+ reviews for LBP on metacritic. Then theres the 1800+ user ratings which rate the game at 6/10 which then leads to an announcement from the Metacritic games editor asking ppl to ignore the user ratings for LBP that they are not legitimate etc (maybe they were in the beta m8?)

From what ive seen its a "create your own platform game" type thing. Great you can use all sorts of things to make your own unique platform game but....

at the end of the day - its a platform game. I mean pitfall 2 ;) is a great platformer but i dont play it anymore...or this genre entirely. Same reason i dont play space invaders or pac-man anymore.

When was the last £40 2d platform game you played?

Yeah - im not feeling it. ??? do i need therapy for not feeling the LBP love?

Whats wrong with a platformer? If you dont like them then fair enough, but I cant see how you can criticise them for lack of depth?

its not a criticism but i mean when is the last platformer you played? (and 2d)

i just wonder at the long term appeal of the actual gameplay.

Just seems it would be more appropriate to be a PSN game not a full price game.

The 100's of 0 ratings came before the Beta had finished, so it was just fanboys being jealous of a game they cant play :p Much like fanboys will give a game a 10 without playing it.
No loss if you think its 2d pitfall, you can always go play a bald space marine killing Aliens :)
On the sensible side, there is no reason why you should like this game, if you dont like/get it then fine its not your kind of game. But you will be missing out on a great game, maybe rent it or wait for some more impressions from other people.

I really wouldn't want to have to sit and download a full blu-ray of material.

Did you play the beta, or have you looked into the game much?

This game's got huge appeal to a great many people, and it's easy to see why if you ask me.

That's what I thought, they should have just let MM go with the Zero Day patch, the amount of idiots that will produce inflammatory levels now as a result of the recall will be huge.

The problem is all those who dont have a net connection, yes im sure there is some somewhere lol, will still have the unpatched version. And its still on the disk, a bit like the Hot coffe thing with GTA SA, it was still on the disk so they had to change it once it was discovered. Im sure Sony didnt want to see the things that happened with that dutch(?) newspaper that printed something a certain community didnt like. Its Sad that Sony had to take this action, the original post that started it only called for a patch then an update disk later on, but some people will always in an extreme manor.

well ive read about it and see videos/previews and the like. And i would like to be excited about it but cant see the appeal of it. I'll prolly rent it to see what the fuss is about.

In essence its a co-op platformer not the second coming of christ. :p

Theres co-op in loads of games and the uniqueness of creating your own levels/modding them? Thats common in pc games (e.g. NWN, Morrowind, Witcher, HL etc)

Still though gotta congratulate whoever is behind the marketing machine for the game.

btw what is the huge appeal of the game? (sometimes i think im in the twilight zone or smt... i mean its a bit like thousands of ppl getting excited over a co-op pacman re-make and being able to create levels for it bizarre!)

USA Plans:
LittleBigPlanet Release Update
+ Posted by Patrick Seybold // Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media

During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused.

We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th. Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible. We’ll report back as soon as we have another update
