Hello, I used a screen recorder to show you that opening a link from steam (HDD) in chrome/firefox or any other browser (SSD - Operating system) takes 5-6 sec, to open up a website like google.

Spec
Windows 8.1 Pro
SSD - Intel 520 120gb (40gb free space, only 1 partition)
HDD - WD Blue 750gb (2 partitions, 1 389gb free space thats my games partition and 2nd is for files and multimedia 150gb free space.)

I did click on the link (0:00) as soon, as I pressed the recording button.

P.S Does SSD perform better when only system is installed on it, or is 20-30gb fine? If there is a difference, how big is it?

Edit

When the website has more context on it, the loading can take up to 10 sec. This never happened on Win7 and I did config the system like it said in a tutorial (can't remember what tutorial it was now...).

speeds look ok to me

ssd should be quicker no matter what data you put on it,but a small partition might stunt its performance

I've got a machine with an intel 520 and a separate HDD with Steam on it, will try tonight.... that seems slow though, ~1 second here with both on SSD. I'm not on win 8 though. As wazza says the speeds look ok.... :S

Edit: I assume your internet works OK and isn't being maxed out doing something like downloading games on steam or anything? Probably a stupid question, but figured I may as well ask!

Nope, I've a fresh install of Windows 8.1, this never happened on Windows 7 (even after 3 years of no formatting!). After summer holidays I'm switching back to Windows 7, the 8.1 Pro has too many bugs and issues...
I guess that Win 8.1 is better for a normal user, but for me so far its been a nightmare.

Anyway thanks for your time, I'll have to stay with this **** till summer... oh well :(

I'm pretty sure this is something to do with Steam wanting to default to opening all links in it's inbuilt browser on the community side, I went through a phase a few weeks ago in which no links would work, just click and nothing.

I wouldn't worry too much about your PC, probably something they'll get patched in due time.

This is not the only issue, I prefer less bugy system which in my case is Win7.
