So what do we really know about this new Logitech MX Master 4?
Why the hell its so heavy? Keycron I think has similar mouse and two times lighter.

I have the Keychron M6 and it is much lighter and similar in shape and design but it feels a lot cheaper too and has a rattly wheel. It's nice though with 1000Hz polling and long batteryy life otherwise but doesn't have the per-app features to customise like Options+ gives you.

MX Master 4 seems a bit of a dumb "upgrade", it has the excat same switches so the primary buttons could go dodgy again like MX Master 3S does (I've had 2 now replaced under warranty), same 125Hz polling rate (wtaf??) and the rubbery coating is now gone replaced with textured plastic with only pure silicone on the finger and thumb rest areas so should last much longer like silicone spatulas do in the kitchen.

Logitech has a trade in which gives you £30 for a MX Master 3S so you could get MX4 for under £100 that way, but I don't think it's a reasonable enough upgrade over the 3S given how very little has changed.

The haptics engine is mostly pointless and probably why it weighs MORE than the already heavy 141g 3S.

I'll happily take the weight for the solid feeling these mice have. My G502X feels and sounds hollow & cheap compared to my Master 2S.
I ageree that the upgrade is a little pointless for 3/3S users, but I'm very keen.

Haptic feedback adds weight, and uses more power so it needs a bigger battery. AND that battery is Lithium Ion now instead of Lithium Polymer in the previous versions. Li-Ion is typically slightly heavier than Li-Po but does give you faster charging.

Edit - Also it's a lot more repairable than previous models. Lots of screws instead of glue and plastic clips. More weight...

I've just ordered one actually as realised my 3S is still under retailer warranty so filed an RMA and they offered a refund. the left and right buttons are dodgy after a year, sometimes have to double press MB2 and sometimes MB1 double clicks.

So £80 being refunded and the MX4 is £119, making the total end cost of MX4 for me £39.

That will be fine.

Holding out ion the faint hope that Amazon does something in the upcoming Prime Day. Unlikely for something so new but it's worth waiting to see.

Copy paste from the buying stuff thread but it arrived today:

So far it's excellent, the quality upgrade doesn't translate in photos but it feels much nicer, no more weird rubber coating and the side grips are proper silicone like a kitchen spatula so very hard wearing it feels like.

The extra 10g weight can't really tell as it's so heavy anyway lol and Options+ asked to copy my custom settings over from the 3S which is rather neat. The actions ring thing is really cool actually, thought it might be a gimmick but it's fully customisable on a per=app basis so is actually useful.

My review is up:
