Logitech Z5450 'THX Certified' Wireless 5.1 Surrond Sound Speaker System

Well these replaced a set of Altec Lansing ADA885 (damn fine speakers in there day) and so far so good, the sub has really got some grunt behind it and I'm pleased by the lack of "hiss" from the rear speakers (which I had read as being a problem). I've got DEC phones and a Pre-N wireless network and I don't get any interefence problems at all, doesn't even go nuts when my mobile rings!!

Now I've got the passthrough sorted both DTS and DD5.1 are correctly identified when fed through the DVD software. Sound staging is pretty good and things "fly by" nicely, nice and punchy and extremely "bright" sound, maybe just a small lack of midrange.

The speaker are black and silver as is the controll box, all looks very nice with my dual Dell 2405's and Logitech DiNovo, obviously the wireless speakers at the back make placement very easy and no trailing wires (I've got two plug sockets at the back of my study).

For £150 inc I think I found a bit of a bargain ;)

You can add Logitech G7 mouse, microwaves and some cordless phones to that list as well...

Well my house is full of wireless and radio equipment that my dad has. We have wireless routers, bridges laptops etc etc..

The system works PERFECT so it must know what channels are free and works on them. Not had one single problem with interference with any other wireless equipment whatsoever.

So just because you have a wireless network already don't hold back on purchasing this.

Want these speakers....but have some questions. Hope you don't mind answering?

From what I can gather, all the speakers plug into the sub? If thats the case, what connections are they? It would be ideal if they were phono jacks/plugs. So the speakers end with a plug?

The reason I ask is, I already have 5.1, but my amp has died and the wires are already run, ending in phono sockets. To prevent any risk of wireless interference, I want to go wired.

So, if they end in phono plugs, then I could just plug these into my extended sockets right?

Here's a pick of my Logitech Z5450

You have a very nice setup there..

Your z-5450 control plod looks about as big as my z-5500 one..I couldn't belive how big the control plod was till i put it on my desk.

Wow, £150 is a total steal considering most places have them for £250+?! Are you sure it isn't a pricing error, or maybe they meant to sell you the non-wireless Z5400 which retails around the £150 mark?? :p
