I just kept switching bass enhancement on/off and enabling/disabling DDLive and it would sometimes stick, others I'd need to reinstall the drivers, very frustrating.

Like when its off the sub works fine in the test, but no games or anything uses the sub, but when its on the sub test dont work and in games and music the sub is all over the place and really quiet.

Well fu** it going back to my 4 speaker setup. I just hope and pray that the digital option works ok with the sub when I get the z-680/z-5500, cos ive totally run out of ideas now. What more can I say but..... I hate ******* computers

Just gone back to my 4 speaker setup,, and I can tell the difference in sound quality from my realtek and X-Mystique,, I wouldnt thought I wouldnt beable to tell any difference cos the speakers are not that great and there about 5 or 6 years old now. The X-Mystique can go much louder then the realtek too

I gonna go back to windows 2000, to see if it sorts this annoying sound prob out.

I was just wondering how good is windows 2000 with games, with all the service packs on and stuff? I remember it being not great for games when it fist came out? Is it as compatible as xp?

Some games aren't supported but can be made to work on 2k, e.g. AoE3.

Best to check on the boxes to see what OSs they support, most should be ok.

To Speedy.

Got my Z680's Yesterday ( ******* incredible ! )

Took some playing with the settings to get them to work properly , so , if you're still having probs you could try this :

From your sig , your using an NF mobo (i'm using an NF3 mobo) so similar.

Use Digital (SPDIF out) connection.
In Windows speaker set-up , set to surround (not 5.1)
In NVMixer , leave the box blank ( where you choose speaker/headphones etc)
In NVMixer , Tick "Encoding Options" - None
In NVMixer - DONT use Speaker Wizard ( A load of Crap)

In fact Dont use NVMixer at all , If you can. ( I tried to uninstall it but lost all sound , so stuck with it)

Onboard sound (Using Audio Driver 4.62)

Hope this helps ?

But must agree with james.miller , it does sound like your speakers at fault not your mobo/onboard sound.

Good Luck.

Cheers,

Mark

stop torturing me mate, I wont beable to get my speakers for ages yet.

To be honnest I cant do anything more about the sound prob,, I've even tested it with win98, and the same thing happens, Just found out cant use win2000 cos it dont support sli.

But just to make sure with you guys, with my x-Mystique, with the 'bass enhancment' turned off, and when the software tests the sub channel, you hear 'subwoofer' right? Do u hear 'subwoofer' when the 'bass enhancment' is on?? cos I dont

Just ordered a set of these after trying to hook my hifi upto the PC and being dissapointed with the surround sound processing in games, hopefully should be here for the end of the week.

My impression is if you want true EAX surround sound you have to use the analogue inputs, is this correct?

sorted it at last....... I've been using the latest drivers from the card from the web site, I thought might aswell give the drivers ago that came with the card... sub socket fixed :D :D :D ... fu**ing computers. Knowing my luck I will have some other problem with these drivers.
