Lol im getting confused by my nephews homework...

2nd Question!...

King arnold sits at his round table..

there are 3 empty seats

how many different ways can 3 knights sit in them 3 seats :)
These questions are so vague and such retarded situations.

How many different ways can 3 knights sit in the three seats, well, they could sit sideways, upside down, they could sit cross legged, on their knees, legs open, legs apart... The list is endless. I suggest the child looks up quantum theory.

Reminds me of:

In serious answer to the last question, assuming that it means;

If all 3 knights occupy a seat, how many different ways are there of arranging the 3 knights in the 3 seats.

Would it not be 6;

123
132
321
312
231
213

Or am I missing something?

If you gave letters to each of the knights would it not be something like:

1. ABC
2. ACB
3. BCA
4. BAC
5. CAB
6. CBA

?

EDIT - Well aren't I a slow thinker...

The replies are all very inefficient.

Surely it would be better to castrate both men, then pump them full of silicon and estrogen.

Then :

a. 2 women go over. One woman gets out. One woman goes back.
b. 1 woman and one woman go over. Woman gets out. One woman goes back.
c. 1 woman and one woman go over.

:cool:

I worked it out by ...

1st seat - 3 knights - 3 possibilities

2nd seat - 2 knights keft - 2 possibilities

3rd seat - 1 knight left - 1 possibility

Answer - 3 x 2 x 1 =6

Permutation and choice theory at school always gave me a headache though :(
