yeah dude, what DO you do?
maybe he works for the planning office in london

I think its quite worrying that i do work for the City planning office and this 17 yr old knows more about most of these than i do :p

Although that city fringe map sucks, it needs my L33T mapping skillz.

Hmmm Ontario tower is coming along nicely, i can see it quite clearly from my office in the Docklands, reckon it will look quite nice when done. Also Peninsula Tower which is just down the road from my office is being built, curretnly putting up one of the cranes as i speak.

lol when my dad worked at St Helens it was one of the tallest buildings, now its going to be totally dwarfed! :D

Love that curvy one on Fenchurch St, that looks great.

URGH! I really dislike Fenchurch Street. It's original design was a much more slender, less wackier design that tapered, not as much as 122 Leadenhall St, but did taper to reveal exclusive sky balconies.
Was a brill idea, but got redisigned for a retarded skyscraper

Confirmed by the Financial Times:

Great Portland in plan for soaring 40-storey City tower

Great Portland Estates, the London property group, is poised to submit a planning application this summer for a soaring 40-storey tower in the heart of the City.

The skyscraper, designed by architects Allies and Morrison, would join a cluster of proposed towers in a small area of the Square Mile. Allies & Morrison are reported to be planning a 43-storey skyscraper on a site neighbouring Foster's SwissRe tower. If confirmed, this would be the 30th proposal over 500ft for London. Architect Allies and Morrison is planning a £200m development including a tower that could go next to Foster and Partners' Swiss Re building in the City of London. The architect has worked with consultant Gardiner & Theobald to draw up plans for a 43-storey tower on a site that includes 61 St Mary Axe. Foster's 41-storey tower is located at 30 St Mary Axe. The developer, Great Portland Estates, has combined a number of its land holdings in the City to produce a two-acre site on which it aims to create an office and retail development. As well as 61 St Mary Axe, Great Portland also has holdings on nearby sites at Bishopsgate and Camomile Street.

Another new proposal by the end of this year. Renders soon to follow :)

Thought a lot of these were at the planning stage, getting a lot of critism from English Heritage, and many haven't got consent for the planning permission yet too.

Will be good views from Kite Hill though, when I take my lad for a stroll in the park. Looks like the gherkin building will be dwarfed by it's future neighbours - shame cos it's one of my favourites.

20 Fenchurch Street looks like some form of foul 1960`s american appartment come office block.

are a return to brutalism in architecture, possibly a very very bad idea.

but some of the others look quite appealing.

Every god damned day I see that and think "wtf were they thinking?!?!?"

I sure hope you are kidding me mate! Heron Tower is a world class design. Just compare it to its surrounding Skyscrapers. It's not too wacky at all. Furthermore, if you pay attention to the more intricate detail like the cross bracing and the external lifts i'm sure you'll appreciate it a lot more. The way it tapers to the sky with a flawless anntenae is just pleasing. I mean, just look at the facade! It's a brilliant piece of architecture.

Pan Peninsula Tower and Crossharbour you must realise fit in with it's neighbours of the Canary Wharf Cluster. It maintains the blocky design and contemporary lights to stretch the cluster south and east wards respectfully.

Look at the Canary Wharf cluster, and tell me that a "better design" would suite it.

(Poor piccy)

In honesty though, i'll give you this. In order to appreciate these designs you must visit the surrounding areas.

30 St Mary Axe, The Swiss Re Centre. Or more commenly known as "The Gherkin" or more sexually, "The Erotic Gherkin".
Masterpiece and one of Fosters' best.

Edit 2: Sorry to disspoint. I'll update this thread tomarrow some time. I can't be bothered now! :p And their's a lot to update!

are you talking about the swissRe building, i think that is a stroke of excelence!

Considering London is in the top three most rich cities in the world beaten only by NY and Tokyo its about time they made it look as impressive, although in my most honest, humble and totally unpatriotic view it is by far the best city on the world.
