London - Full Summary of Projects V1.2 (No 56k!)

Yeah sure. Tell me they aint gonna build the Guinness Tower!

The other buildings look great, that one looks like someone sat on a clay model of it!

Do you know much about the stuff going up in Manchester? Every where you go lately something is going up. Not necessarily sky scrapers, but some nice looking buildings all the same :)

I love London, please do upate!

And this thread seems as good a place as anywhere to ask: is the ghurkin building (Swiss RE building?) open to the public? I'd love to go in and have a nose around :)

I don't mind updating. Is anyone interested is the question?

Well id be interested thats for sure...saying that though where i work is literally in front of the Pan Peninsula buildings and my god they have come a long way tbh. Both towers are being built slowly upwards..one is higher than the other but it looks awesome though.

Will have to see if i can get some pics sometime this week...havent got my digi cam on me at the mo but from where im sitting in my office..i can see both buildings gathering pace upwards.

The answer is yes, but only one day a year, or possibly three, I can't remember... It's an open house kind of thing, where many buildings are open to the public. The City Hall is something which is definitely worth it, but for two years straight the Gherkin has evaded our attempts, MAKE SURE YOU BOOK IN ADVANCE. If you don't, you've got no chance. The queues are mahoosive.

The amount of construction work in London is mental at the moment, just looking across the skyline the numbers of cranes you can see is immense.

A lot of the tall building developments are being held up by the UNESCO decision on the tower of london, they came round london last year to decide if tall building development was harming the views of the tower, and were thinking about putting it on the world heritage site endangered list.

They're due to report in June/July, my guess is that you'll hear a lot of news around then, especially for some of the Tower Hamlets developments.

The only scheme i hope it kills off is 20 fenchurch street, absolutely hate it.

Does that mean that it might not happen then??

Update please !

As far as I can tell... and I'm not sure the update in the shard is...

Latest news is that PricewaterhouseCoopers (current occupants of the site) will move in July/August this year and demolition will be starting in September, with core rising in February 2009 and construction finishing in July 2011.
