Hello people,

I'm going to London on Friday for a couple of day's and I am looking for decent restaurant's to visit for dinner. I have had a look on Tripadvisor but the vast array of restaurant's makes it hard to choose just a couple.

I don't have any specific requirement's, I am not a lover of fish though. More of meat eater. I don't mind travelling a little distance as the tube makes that easy.

Not tried many different cuisine so feel free to suggest any.

No set budget either although don't fancy paying more than £150 for 2 people. Exception can be made though.

Cheers

I think you might have to narrow it down in some way. Where are you staying, what other sites are you visiting? Do you want to try Michelin starred food (just about do-able on that budget of you do a set menu deal) or are you after an 'experience'? There's, er, quite a lot of restaurants in London :p

We are staying quite far out near Wembley, however it isn't too bad as we will be in the centre (ish) everyday. Will try Michelin Starred if possible but not too fussed. Never tried it so would be a good experience to have. Were visiting many places all over the capital, this is mainly somewhere to visit on Saturday night after a day shopping all over the place.

Yeah there are.... Thousands. Spent 4 hours looking today and still clueless.

Bodeans is awesome but not exactly haute cuisine or worth making a special trip for. I still haven't been to Hawksmoor but by all accounts that is an experience and definitely worth making a trip for. There must be lots of threads in here recommending Michelin starred places. My vote would be The Connaught but I don't have a lot to compare it to, to be perfectly honest. That's some proper Mayfair opulence right there. If you search on here I did a mini review :)

Another two random suggestions would be Bob Bob Ricard (as long as you book a table in the bar for a drink first) and Wahaca. My friend recommended Ceviche to me yesterday but I haven't been yet.

It's lobster festival at Big Easy. Fantastic restaurant, fantastic staff, even more fantastic food.

Cannot recommend this place enough. I love it to bits. Oh, and having been to both over 20 times each (no exagguration) it ****es all over Bodeans!

Fri dinner on this notice will be difficult/impossible at places like Ledbury, Dinner and so on, but these would definitely be worth a try and should be doable on that budget

Alyn Williams at the Westbury:

Yeah, listen to this man. Bodeans, Wahaca, Ceviche, the Big Easy are all "nice" but are a bit of a waste if you want to spend £150. Hawksmoor is an option but at the end of the day its a steak, a good one, but just steak.

Also try

Bocca Di Lupo (ask for seats at the bar in front of the chefs):

To slightly defend my post I got the impression the OP was looking for a bit of 'range' to the suggestions. Not just fine dining and michelin stars :)

Meat Liquor if you're willing for the wait :)

Nothing like the fine dining/michelin stars that everyone else has put across.

Make sure you turn up early, though. No reservations, but it's about a half hour-45 minute wait.

It's a completely different style to pretty much everything else, but have a check of it first :)

Place I go every year and it's never been beaten and ive been to other top rated places.
Just a great small, friendly place with great food for a decent price. If you go you must take advantage of the sommelier.

Trouble with other Michelin star places is they either get full of themselfs or make massirestraint aunts and kill the atmosphere.
Some even leave the tendons on as well as doing the all the other fails. I'm looking at you atul kochhar, would never recommend his place.

Oops went a bit off topic there.

+1, if you like that Pitt Cue is also a good option as similar back story (both started selling food from a van and it became very popular and they set up restaurants)

Everyone is bumming the Duck and Waffle at the moment, but someone told me it is a bit weird combo like to be the "in thing" or something. But location and cocktails are great apparently.

Friends of ours went there for a treat and by all accounts it was good. But I didn't get a proper review. There's a sushi place on the floor below it that has an awesome outside bar/terrace though?

Oh and great call on La Trompette, the girlfriend took me there for my birthday- it was tremendous. Such a lovely homely little restaurant :)
