London Restaurant to visit

Thanks for the suggestions Voltar! Certainly plenty to go with there, thanks. Unsure whether it'll be just me and my girlfriend for dinner or my business partner too so Andrew Edmunds and Yauatcha sound like good bets for those respectively.

Voltar: We're actually there for an awards ceremony at The Bloomsbury Ballroom, staying at the Bloomsbury Park (Thistle). Awards don't start until 7.30pm so where would you recommend for some pre-drinks? No more than 5 minutes walk away for the girls in heals.

Also, where to go afterwards when the awards finish at 1am? Bar with a dance floor would be perfect. Not too clubby as we'll be in dinner suits.

Just as another daytime activity get yourself into the Soane Museum which is free and there's loads of really cool stuff in there. If you like Hogarth then you'll be able to see the complete collection of A Harlot's Progress (or is it A Rake's Progress?).

Well, you could get yourself on the list at Paramount and go up 30-odd storeys and have a great view of London. Crazybear Lounge on Goodge St is a good bet for a cocktail. The Long Bar at the Sanderson Hotel is a good one for a cocktail as well. Those last two I suggest because you'll be dressed for it.

Bar and dancing- Lab in Soho is fun: cocktails are good for a club/bar and it's pretty lively in there.

Ronnie Scott's is a safe bet as well. Can depend on the night as to whether people will be dancing or not. Good whiskey list there too.

In terms of a 5 min walk from Bloomsbury Ballroom you may well just have to go to a pub- seem to remember there being a nice looking one on Queen Sq. Might be the Queen's Larder if google maps serves me well. But otherwise 5mins from where you're going isn't blessed with the best places from what I recall.

I went to the duck and waffle just before Christmas. Fantastic views but that's just about the only positive thing I can say about it. It's wasn't awful, but certainly not worth the hefty price tag. I tried the duck and waffle (duck leg on a waffle with a friend egg and maple syrup) which was ok, but not really my thing. Rest of the food was alright but certainly not spectacular. There are far nice restaurants in that price range in my opinion.

We did go through around £1000 of rosé champagne which was nice :)

@Voltar

Just wanted to say thank you! Went to Meatmarket for lunch on Wednesday and Yauatcha for dinner on Thursday. Almost went to Ronnie Scots as well on the Wednesday but decided we'd spent enough without the £10pp entrance and wouldn't really appreciate it at 1.30am!

Both Meatmarket and Yauatcha were awesome, as well as your specific recommendation re: dim sum and desserts.
