I have multiple drives in RAID 0, all my important files are backed up on every drive. That way if one drive goes down, I have at least 2 more copies, I also back up to Google Drive, it costs very little for the peace of mind it offers.Hi all,
What is the medium for long term storage of data other than cloud-storage? Also is HDD better than SDD for longer term storage?
Thanks in advance.
Are you sure you mean RAID 0? RAID 0 is striping with no redundancy so if one drives fails you lose the lot.I have multiple drives in RAID 0, all my important files are backed up on every drive. Yes, I do mean RAID 0, I have 8 physical drives and have split them into 4 RAID 0 drives. Data is saved to at least 3 of these RAID 0 drives, if one goes down, I have 2 left. Are you sure you mean RAID 0? RAID 0 is striping with no redundancy so if one drives fails you lose the lot.
You hit the nail on the head, I have just bought odd sized drives over the years and doubled them up, have literally just swapped out 2x1TB for 2x3TB.Ah, gotcha. So it's sort of a manual RAID 01 - mirrored stripes - rather than RAID 10 which is striped mirrors.
