Long term storage

Hi all,

What is the medium for long term storage of data other than cloud-storage? Also is HDD better than SDD for longer term storage?

Thanks in advance.
I have multiple drives in RAID 0, all my important files are backed up on every drive. That way if one drive goes down, I have at least 2 more copies, I also back up to Google Drive, it costs very little for the peace of mind it offers.

Are you sure you mean RAID 0? RAID 0 is striping with no redundancy so if one drives fails you lose the lot.

Yes, I do mean RAID 0, I have 8 physical drives and have split them into 4 RAID 0 drives. Data is saved to at least 3 of these RAID 0 drives, if one goes down, I have 2 left.

Ah, gotcha. So it's sort of a manual RAID 01 - mirrored stripes - rather than RAID 10 which is striped mirrors.
You hit the nail on the head, I have just bought odd sized drives over the years and doubled them up, have literally just swapped out 2x1TB for 2x3TB.
