Was ideally looking to keep it under £1000 but with a a monitor I realise thats gonna be a problem. I could get a smaller moniter which is definitly summin I'll be trying out (will get some games on the other halfs mac which is a 21inch and see how I feel about using that).

What have I missed/could improve upon?

are you looking to run 2 graphic cards in the future ?, if not have a look at a 600/650w psu.

might be worth looking at a 24" screen see if your happy with that.

any reason you've gone for an external dvd drive ?

rest of it looks fine :).

Looks good, but are you sure you want an external DVD drive not an internal?

This samsung would knock a fiver off and do the job from inside your case

As mp260767 has pointed out, you don't need that much power from your PSU, but tbh a PSU is an investment and if you upgrade your gfx card you might be happy you went with it. Also, corsair make awesome PSU's.

Also, although the 2TB is a great value storage drive, if you dropped to a 1TB drive like this you could shave an extra £15 and get a faster drive. You can always add to your storage drives later, and a faster drive would decrease loading times in games.

Lastly, you could save £50 if you overclocked the cpu yourself and built the cpu/ram/mobo.cooler bit yourself instead of a bundle. I priced it up with a Thermaltake Frio (comes with 2 fans) for £334 for the same cpu and mobo but with giel dragon RAM.
That's only if you were comfortable doing it of course, the bundles are still great value and come guaranteed.

Altogether, that's about £70 cheaper.

I would get a 24''. 27'' is 1080p, so you are not gaining on resolution.

With the price difference, could get a SSD.

Can save about a tenner on PSU if not thinking XFire.

Can also drop CPU cooler for later. Saves another £25.

Thanks for the opinions. The external drive was me being an idiot. Good call on the SSD forgot to put that on my list. Had a look around and think this incorporates a lot of the ideas mentioned. The biggest problem I have is with the monitor. Im considering upping the budget slightly to get the monitor I want its back down to 24 but seems to be a great monitor or is it overkill? I think the base unit is pretty much sorted coming in at £1000 so its now down to how much to justify on a monitor.

It's a 120Hz monitor, It's suppose to be very good, but I don't know first hand.

IMO expensive, but if you can afford it. Also worth shopping around for these kind of items. You can also get a dual monitor setup for that kind of money.

As for the rest of the build, looks good.

I would struggle to justify spending that much on the monitor to be honest.

However if other monitors were going to be significantly worse then I would want to spend the extra since its that im going to be spending all my time looking at. I'm just not totally sure how much of a difference the monitor will make. I'm moving from console gaming on an older 37" 720p tv so im already wary of going to something so much smaller but I will be sat closer so that should offset the smaller size and increasing the resolution should help.

Ive spent most of the time looking into graphics card to be honest as that was the area I was struggling most with understanding.

Didnt really look at RW drives as I cant think of the last time I had to write anything to a disc but as that is the same price it wont do any harm to put in the machine.

I'll keep that PSU in mind as I dont think im planning on running dual graphics cards which if I did I assume I would need a PSU more like the one I have already chosen?

yes. A good 650W is about ok for a 7850 xfire.

Hell, I've clocked under 450W at the plug with my setup (Unigine, BF3), and the 7850 is more power efficient. Overclocking will add a bit more.

Personally, I would go with a £150 screen. One of the samsung used to have 'get VAT back' option, but it's not available anymore unfortunately. Something like this one.

So, those components. RAM for colour matching (for a couple of quids), and Corsair does good stuff.

For the PSU, the TX750M is fine really. The rest of the components are good to go. You will want the A50 to run with its voltage reduction adapter (it's a 3-pin fan), so it spins at 1/2 speed. No idea why Corsair just cannot provide a PWM fan with the heatsink.
