Looking for a new monitor - 32" ODYSSEY G7 vs LG 32GP850-B

(bolded part) Yes. See the GP850 thread here. My unit (and it appears everyone else's) has a terrible amount of glow in the bottom left. It's hugely distracting at night. I honestly hate it.

The reason I'm not returning it is, well, all the LG's appear the same, and the non-LGs are all more expensive, as I bought it for £300. £300 today is a budget screen, you see...

Suffice is to say I won't be keeping this one any longer than necessary - when I can get a 32" 4K OLED for a reasonable price, I'll be kissing IPS goodbye forever.

All the arguments about IPS having good colours and viewing angles - it's all bullpoop when the IPS glow (or backlight bleed) distorts the picture and colours so badly.

I think this has helped a lot in settling for the G7, my current monitor is a VA panel with 1000:1 contrast ratio so I feel like I will really notice the IPS glow in the dark as well unfortunately Sorry to hear about the annoying glow with yours. I think I will wait for black friday sales to fully roll out and hope the G7 pops up on sale somewhere. Hopefully I don't get the dreaded VRR flickering on that lol, annoying that there's so many worries when it comes to buying a monitor these days. I would also love a 32" or even 27" OLED, sadly I doubt I will even be about to afford one if/when they do become available! Hopefully they become the standard eventually

I've been all over the internet today looking for a decent 28"+ monitor that is 1400p+ and a decent refresh rate. I settled on the LG 32GP850-B coz of the cheaper price and the great reviews.

That said, what I paid was around what my budget was, so for me I feel lucky to have paid £350 for a monitor that is a step up from that price range. If you can afford it, then from what I've seen on this thread the G7 is superior, that is if you can get over the aggressive curve.

How important is that extra £200 to you?

The price on the LG is honestly so tempting, I think I'm going to wait until the black friday sales and hope the G7 comes down in price a bit! It's annoying because I don't feel like the G7 has that many improvements over the GP850, definitely not £200 worth anyway. I know the 240HZ is a step up but realistically I won't be running that framerate anytime soon lol. The main difference I guess are the panels, I'd love to try an IPS but so worried it will be too much in a dark room. Especially hearing how many people get quite a bit of backlight bleed on theirs. I'll let you know if I settle on either! I do think that the GP850 is definitely one of the best value ones out there. Cheers.
