Has anyone got any suggestions for a new gaming mouse? Mainly for FPS & RTS..

Ive been looking at the logitech G5 and Razer Copperhead. Also the Razer Krait looks interesting for the money, anyone any experience with any of these?

I use a logitech V500 at the moment, while not a gaming mouse i do like it a lot, it just doesnt have a normal scroll wheel which can be a pain for weapon cycling etc.

I have a Copperhead and I love it. It can be a bit sensitive at times, but its easy to change the sensitivity quickly so no probs. I tend to use the 2 thumb buttons for game actions and the buttons on the other side for sensitivity adjustment, although they are a bit hard to reach sometimes which is my only criticism.

Another vote for the copperhead, all the customisable side buttons are very handy. And it's got pulsing lights - come on, I mean, lights!

Wait till the end of August and get the new Razer Diamondback 3G.

But if that doesnt float ya boat then i strongly recommend a MX518, mine has never let me down once :)

Thanks for the replies guys, bit of a tie between Logitech & Razer so far.. did you all notice a difference when compared to a "normal" mouse?

P.S. I would have searched but as much as I look, the search option seems to have disappeared??

Good stuff, as long as its not me :)

Just looking at the Diamondback 3G, it uses a 3G infrared sensor (hence the name i guess :D ), is that going to an improvement over laser?

I have a G5 and, while I like it, I'm not certain I'd recommend it for purchase.

What I would say is go to a store where you can feel the mice, not just see them. Your hand is going to spend many hundreds of hours holding it, so it has to be comfortable as well as practical.

Why wouldnt you recommend the G5 zarquon? Comfort? Im a long time fan of Logitech mice but am very tempted to go with Razer instead.

Would it be worth getting a Copperhead now with the Diamondback 3G so close?

I've been playing FPS games for 5 years, can't stay away from the MX series :) tried all gaming mice at LAN events (with different mouse mats).

I personally love MX518 with Steelpad S&S, cant go wrong tbh :D

Yeah thats right Moses99p, is it just down to dpi? Is the copperhead still going to be the better mouse? If so why are they releasing this one?

Looks like a lot of votes for the MX518, im impressed thats still holding its own when its been out so long :)

aren't copperheads 2000dpi and the diamondback 1800dpi?

The diamondback 3G has been upgraded to 2000dpi, it uses the same technology as the deathadder but looks sooo much better :)

dpi isnt everything. For example the ms intellimouse 3 only has 400dpi and a lot of gamers still use it as their preffered mouse.

However the new razer mice use different technology in their sensors (IR i think) that provides better tracking so what is lost in dpi is more than gained.

So my vote is for the 3g or the death adder iif you can strecth.

I lie its 1800dpi, still thats plenty though. 2000dpi is pointless ;)

lol :D

So is there a big difference when using these things compared to a run of the mill mouse?

I think the 3G will be plenty, is there any difference between the IR & laser sensors in terms of the surfaces they can be used on?

There is a big difference with gaming mice trust me, laser is more fussy over surfaces but the steelpad 5L is what I'd recommend for laser mice, that said however, I have owned both the G5 and deathadder (has the same sensor as the diamondback 3g) and the deathadder wipes the floor with the G5, in fact, shapewise I prefer the deathadder to the diamondback anyway.

With diamondback you get 2 extra buttons and a different shape, thats where the differences end.

Deathadder is often regarded as the best overall gaming mouse; I'd have to agree.

But tbh, it is whatever is the most comfortable in your hand and suits your playing style. DPI and Hz helps, but comfort comes first.
