Looking forward to Monday.

Took the car for a drive when i got back to gently warm up and bed in the new brakes, whilst out i noticed a rattle at around 3k rpm. Took it back and the guy who serviced it aint in until tomorrow so have to take it back then. One of the other workers took it out and heard the noise but didnt know what it was. Hope it can be sorted as its damm annoying.

On a better note although i was being super super gentle with the brakes they were still very hot when i got back which i thought was strange, however they seem to bite better now and you can feel them start to work much further up the pedal which is good. :D

Will report back tomorrow with the outcome of the rattle. :(

GT3 well it has stopped now the brakes have been changed so i dunno.

I had a knocking noise when I first got my car in July 05, it was the rear suspension bushes...but I'm no mechanic.

Hope you get it sorted out anyway, and take it gently on those brakes for a few hundred miles!

Yeah i was very gentle with them, like stupidly gentle with them, however after a 20min drive i burnt my finger on the rear brake disc.

I havent modded them as they are the same size etc, the parts are just non citroen. :)

Thats not the way your insurance company see it. You have put non standard spec disc and pads on, even though they are better than standard the insurance company will still need to know to keep you fully covered. My disc and pads are the same size but as i said insurance went up by £57.

Ah ok cheers will phone them up, seems a daft rule though. Si what about the people who put oem pads aetc on their cars they are citroen parts do they have to declare them?

I may get flamed for this but I am running OEM spark plugs, OEM pads but genuine discs ordered from Honda. My tyres aren't the original brand (Bridgestone's of some sort IIRC) ;) However for these parts I have no intention of ringing my insurance.

When I get a 4.5" Mongoose cat back system on in a few months I will do though...

They may well not know but one look at your front discs will tell them they are not to the same spec as OEM stuff(even though they will be better). Your pads are to a different spec to OEM stuff too(manufacturer doesnt matter just the spec and they are not original spec). Just let them know it covers your backside if something bad happens.

Yeah ok will see what they say. :)

Waiting to see what the garage says about the rattle now. :(

Are you FC or TPFT Si?

If you crash, wheel off, Brembo disc off, standard disc on :)

Although, depending how mashed the car is, it might not as easy as that.

Odds are the car will not go to your house, not worth it for the sake of £30 quid, when i changed my disks for non standard ones but OEM QUALITY the insurance couldn't give two hoots (Direct Line & CIS), long as they are OEM same size etc i can't see it being a problem, its like saying you should inform your insurance company if you fit non standard plugs or HT leads or even a diff make clutch.

telling them that you now have better braking puts the insurance up?
i wouldnt even tell the insurance company tbh.

i guess i should tho, and best tell them that i have better sparking spark plugs and an uprated alternator etc etc....

if it was a big brake kit then fair enough, but not just disc and pad changes!
