I'm looking to replace my current car (Ford Focus 1.6l 56 plate) next month or so with a similar age or newer Audi A3 (5 door). I really like the Audi, but am open to sensible suggestions.

If I was to buy the A3, I would be looking for the following:

2.0TDi
5 Doors
Leather
S-Line Trim Level

Is there anything else I should be looking for/or avoid?

Thanks in advance! :)

I thought it was the old 1.9TDI which was the big, vibrating, noisy thing?

Well in my experience the old 2.0TDI is a bit noisy too. I'm comparing it to the newest CR version though, so you might not notice it being particularly noisy.

It is, AFAIK the 2.0 TDI (140 and 170) hasnt really changed since it appeared in the MK5 golf.

I was under the impression the CR version of the engine has been fitted to cars this year, whereas anything previous would be the PD version?

I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong but I'm sure the 2.0 were all common rail, the 1.9 were all PD (apart from the early mechanical ones)

After looking at Wiki and doing a bit of research, I think the original 2.0TDi (2003) was PD and then the later 2.0TDi were all CR... I might be wrong too :p

jamoor - Any reason?

Interesting, I always thought the change to CR was the reason for the naming change (as cc isnt actually that different IIRC)...

Have a good test drive in it as Audi like their suspension to be either hard, rock hard, or displace your internal organs hard.

try and go for one with the audi Navigation plus, it makes the centre console look so much better, also Bose is nice.

What's your budget?

I've got a maximum of £15,000 for the car (not including insurance etc)

Have you thought about a Mazda RX8 instead?

I have had a look but I got the impression they were very thirsty?
