Looking to buy first SSD. Advice please!

After living with it for the past 2-3 weeks I think it's great. Everything loads instant, and windows is much snappier. I am getting the 300GB one for my i7 laptop :D

The 300GB just isn't justifiable imo... much rather use a 160GB for OS and then use an optical bay caddy to stick a 1TB internal drive in. I've defo now got my eyes on that Intel though... just not sure whether to go for the 120GB or 160GB!

I won't be playing games, mainly:

  • Windows 7
  • MS Office
  • Adobe Elements/Photoshop/Lightroom
  • Browsing
  • Usual random installed apps/tools you find on a PC

...120GB should be enough for all that if I have a separate data drive, right? :)

I've got about 7 Vertex 2Es running in various machines now. I've suffered one failure but would not hesitate to keep buying them.

depends how much data you have and how carrying a separate drive around annoys you. for my laptop i prefer to keep it all self sufficient and not have to carry anything else around as that is my main day to day machine.

the 120gb vertex 2e went into my gaming rig and for that, its more than enough..

As I said... stick an extra drive in the internal optical bay using a caddy, so no carrying around extra stuff. :)

A friend of mine is having issue with Firefox on his SSD (OCZ Agility 2 128GB) does anybody else have a similar issue? I am toying with buying one but I can't be without my Firefox :(

An "issue with Firefox". How incredibly descriptive.

Yeah sorry, basically it's the caching that Firefox does all the writing of little bits of data to the drive causes the system to crash/hang/fall over and die. Personally I think it is the series of drives which is the issue (well documented on the forum) but was hoping to see if anybody else had any issues running Firefox on their SSD or if it is just him.

Thanks.
