Looking to move on from cds and need some advice

There's a Yamaha amp on avforums for sale.

Thanks all for the different advice - so many different ways to go! On a different note my car is old and only has an aux which doesn’t seem to work with spotify. It did work with tracks downloaded onto the phone. So is there a similar Bluetooth receiver people would recommend to get it working?

I'm in a pretty similar situation.

Though I had separates already, so when my CD player started playing up I simply added this Bluetooth receiver to my Cambridge Amp and Mission speakers.

1Mii Bluetooth Receiver for HiFi Music Streaming Sound System, Bluetooth Stereo Receiver Works with Smart Phone/Tablet, RCA/3.5mm Audio Outputs to Speakers, 12H Playtime https://amzn.eu/d/gaAf6Pf

Works great, and though I still have my CD racks, they tend to just be a visual reminder of stuff that I then listen to through Spotify.

I also only have an aux in for the car, there's no good reason that Spotify shouldn't work off your phone, I do it every day.

It sounds like you're using a USB storage connection rather than regular stereo aux or usb aux. When you plug in your phone what cable are you using and does you phone ask you to go into "storage mode" or are you able to use a media player on your phone to control audio playback?

What model is the radio because if you can't play Spotify via your phone using the connection then you might be out of luck with alternative devices unless you've got a regular stereo connection as an alternative.

The radio is the High Performance \Sound system in a Volvo V70 - the cable worked ok when I had music files onthe phone - wondered if there was some setting I had wrong on the iphone. If I plug in and play something it just plays on the phone speakers and a message came up on the phone that it wasn't compatible.

So I’m now thinking I might use whatever it is with the TV too and utilise the old speakers. The two main options seem to be these:

https://petertyson.co.uk/yamaha-crx-n470d-crxn470d with that I think I’d have to get an optical out adapter for the tv feed?

Or this: https://petertyson.co.uk/denon-d-m41dab-rcd-m41dab-hi-fi-system

I’d be using two speakers with it. What do people think? Are there better options? Thanks

Edit - if I did go I the whole hog and ditch the cd is there a better option? Keen for it to be good with streaming
