sorry fox, get over it pal, maybe if you didnt have such an elitist attitude towards every post, you wouldnt have such a backlash to all your threads.

Back on topic. I drove my mates GT3 again this morning, Porsche keeps growing on me, Pity its slightly out of your price range (im assuming) as its an animal!

HI there

Its within my price range as is the Turbo and both are getting test drives with in the next two weeks. :)

I think you will love the GT3. Is the 997 in your price range? My knowledge of the different porsches is limited due to not really being interested in them.

I just know that the one i drove is pearl white, 997 GT3 with all the extras, Carbon Ceramic brakes, carbon race seats etc etc. Its a serious weapon :D

Hi there

I was looking at 996 GT3 MK2's and 996 2002-2003 Turbos. The 997's are not in my price range unless you talking of the standard C2 and C4 cars but I'd probably miss the power I've been use to if I went for one of the lesser models as such.

Ahh yea, i havnt driven the 996 version but i cant see it being much different.

As long as you dont get a bright orange or green one :p

Hi there

I'd take an orange GT3 997 anyday, think they look fantastic. :)

I'm mighty impressed after my demonstration earlier - and it's certainly rather brutal! Shame we didn't have quieter roads and a little more time :D Thanks, Gibbo, much appreciated.

Hi m8

No problem at all and the CSL is mighty impressive, was amazed by how it handles in the wet. In the Mustang because of the twin-screw blower it makes getting traction rather hard with all those dollops of torque coming in so low. If I still have it when it dries out I will give you a proper demonstration.

Again, CSL is amazing, such a vastly different animal in comparison to the regular M3.

If I was to buy a BMW now I'd go for either a CSL or a Z4M Coupe, CSL has it on handling and outright speed definetely. Might try to get a go in a CSL before I make a purchasing decision. :)

The DB9 is still around £75k for the cheapest second hand available. It's not a slow car by any means but compared to the Mustang/Corvette it's slow. If you want a GT then the DB9 is superb if you have the money and looks wise it's the nuts. If you want a focussed sports car then Porsche/BMW/Mustang/Corvette are the way forward.

If it was me I'd jump at a DB9 as it's my type of car - fun, comfortable and great for crusing in. Gibbo likes totally focussed cars and if comfort suffers slightly as a result then so be it.

Hi there

Yep Adam is right and I too agree with him regarding the Aston's looks, it really is a sexual machine. I'd imagine a car like the Aston would not just get the attention of women and lots of dome sucking action but they'd probably be queuing up to please you. Muhahahaha! :D

Yes I do like focussed cars, but in saying that I could not live with a car that was designed for the track such as an Elise, Westfield, Noble etc. They are too hardcore for the road. Absolute most hardcore for me would be an M3 CSL or Porsche GT3 but they both are the best handling cars without doubt on my short list and most driver orientated cars. The CSL definetely comes across to me as a car which is easier to drive faster on UK roads as its safer/easier to control at the limit, wheras a GT3 is quite edgy and takes a lot of controlling but no doubt gives an even more rewarding driving experience. Then I'd say the Z06 sits well in the middle, brilliant handling but good safety systems and with 2007 rear shocks its safe on the limit. Then obviously cars such as an RS4 and EVO FQ360 will just make me an absolute hooligan because they make you a driving god and let you get away with so much, but at the same time they reward the least in the driving experience. Look forward to test driving said vehicles though to see how they really compare instead of how I think they compare or what I've read online and in magazines.

Hi there

I've been trying to find these, are they available? How much from and where etc?

Hi there

Why is it you get people who say they want the car, say they are gonna transfer the money, then delay, delay some more and then say they are having issues finding the funds. Lets just say a tad annoyed, but on the plus side I get to keep the car for a while longer. :)

@Gibbo
We call them Messers.
You always get them which is why i am so harsh to prospective buyers or have been in the past i should say when i speak to them on the phone & when they come to look. First thing i say on the phone is if you expect a drive then bring insurance & some cash as Know one drives my baby without it. Buyers like hearing the owner loves there car so it doesn't scare them off, it does put off Messers though.
Also when they say will i keep it for them i say "Yes mate but only until someone else comes with the cash then it's Sold."
I take No deposits without writing a receipt saying Unless paid in full by such & such the Deposit is Not refundable & i only do this for cheap old bangers.
If i was selling your motor i would be even worse.
basically you only want to spend any time with proper buyers & those dudes have the funds in place Prior to looking. I am sick of showing people round motors who haven't even got the funds together for a purchase to me they are a waste of space & a waste of my time.

Hi m8

Thanks for the advice!

I am not actually annoyed because I don't have a replacement lined up yet and I love driving the car so to me its just more time in the car. Still I would have like to have sold the car by mid August as this is when dealers will be at their weakest and I can just go in making demands and bring them to breaking point. :)

Did the new buyer not pay you a decent deposit?

HI there

Nope, but I did leave the car advertised.

My mistake but I guess you learn, afterall its my first time in selling something this expensive. Wheras in the past pound notes have just been exchanged on the spot something of this value is not quite as simple.

Still anyone else who says they want it I shall be expecting a deposit, you learn from mistakes.

eidolon said:
Yeah, definitely get a deposit in future, and make sure it's a good one (none of this £50 rubbish)

Hope it still goes well and he's not messing you around.

Hi there

Well that did not take long.

One of the car cleaning product sites on detailing world just called me, well the owner anyway. Yet another Porsche GT3 owner but he does sound a lot more coatia and specifically wants a Saleen Mustang as he wants a good handling car and when he saw the mods on mine he is very interested.

He is coming to view the car tomorrow which is a 600 mile round trip for him and he seems genuinely interested. As said if he decided he wants it then I shall get a deposit.

The amazing thing is though nearly everyone enquiring about the car are Porsche owners, quite flattering really. :)

Well done, who's this guy another enthusiast?

Hi there

He is the owner of a very popular car cleaning company on detailingworld and does a lot of trackdays in Porsches.

He came up in a very nice 13yr old Porsche 968 Clubsport that looked brand new.

So yes he is an enthusiast and has decided to try something different.

He's been in the standard Mustang and Shelby but was not that impressed with the handling, not a surprise coming from Porsches. However after been in my car today he was simply amazed by the brakes and was should we say very surprised at the cars road holding and as such he purchased the car. He was not interested in power, so as he said the supercharger is just a bonus. :)

Plus his Porsche was LHD and as such he is used to that as well. I am really happy he is buying the car because straight away I liked the bloke, because if a twit had come to look at the car I'd not really want to sell it them but as such this guy I am happy to let have my car. :)

Gibbo has somehow made a profit on owning a 500bhp car for a year, in anyones books thats great

Hi there

Actually its more like 18 months as I got the car last February, supercharged it around October time and have enjoyed it since.

Got the car with 600 miles on the clock, she now has nearly 15,000 miles on the clock so yes I've done very well indeed. :)

I intend to do the same with my next purchase, let me just say a certain dealer hates me at the moment, I am his biggest headache. Upto now I have got a certain dealer down by £5000 from their list price, am now just trying to squeeze another 2-3k out of them. I am proving so difficult because I want to get my next car at a bargain price, so in 12 months time I stand to loose little to no money, hey maybe even make 1-2k on the sale. :)

Shame to hear its going, but im glad it sounds like it going to someone who will take care of it.

What car is it your battering the price down on?

Hi there

Yes good to see it go to another caring owner.

I aint saying in regards to other car as of yet, but needless to say if they meet my demands its the car I shall buy. :)

Hi there

Well its a sad day, as the new owner just picked up the Mustang. When I heard it going down the road I never knew it sounded so great, will really miss that car. Still now time beckons on what my next vehicle will be.

you shouldve held on for a few months, the transformers movie has a saleen mustang as one of the main cars and i'm sure that will have bumped the values up a bit! ah well :( roll on the replacement!

Hi there

Yes seen the film, superb. Yes thats a Saleen Extreme, 550BHP in the film.

Also the Camaro in the film is not a Camaro, it was built by Saleen in 30 days and they built a 2nd one in 15 days as GM had none ready but Saleen built it too look identical. Gotta say the new Camaro does look nice. :)

Hows that compare to yours then

Hi there

Pretty much identical, thats got an additional 20BHP/Lb-Ft over mine. However the engine on that is strengthended so fit a smaller pulley, tune for higher octane fuel and it will see 700ish horses easily.

Mine had a few more handling mods in place to make it corner better, but apart from that very similar. :)
