Also most well known rpg games like Skyrim , Oblivion etc can be modded to give random loot
The point of a loot game surely isn't to just get random loot, but to have loot that actually means something in the game?

RIFT is awful, takes 50 years to complete a quest because there are so few nodes and so many players. TERA is far superior, but then TERA is the best MMO out at the minute.

or to have the money to buy any type of loot you want, because it's the one thing that i've always thought was missing from BL2 and that is :-
the ability to order a custom made gun from Marcus, EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT via a large menu, obviously it's going to cost you a fortune, but at least you can eventually get it, but the reality is, that you might never be able to get ``Conference call or Detonating cobra``.
the loot system doesn't work in BL2 because 98% of it is rubbish and that one gun that you've always been after, you'll probably never get, BUT, you could in the 1st game

The mighty quest for epic loot is clearly one that's been missed here![]()
Gearbox said they would never do gun crafting, because people would just craft the best guns in the game and never have to go hunting for better ones, killing one of the major points of the game.
I think it's also to encourage people to play multi-player (better loot, people to swap guns with), and to pay for the game/be part of the online ecosystem in order to get SHIFT codes for the golden chest.
oh i understand why, but this gun would not be cheap, you aint going to be able to afford it for ages.... you would order it at say level 40, but not be able to get it until level 50, it would have course scale up with you.
you would only be able to order a maximum of 2 guns, so you'd still have to loot for the rest....but this would give you something to look forward to..
a legendary might be worth say 1.6 million right now, but this will cost you say 3 million....so this isn't something that's too easy to get hold of, you'll have to really work for it....

I'm sure Gearbox looked at this issue, because a lot of people requested gun crafting, and they just decided it didn't fit with the game they were making.
It's easy to get millions of credits, and then you'd just be storming through the game. And you'd never want any other gun again, or it would be useless once you'd leveled up past the point where you could get to use that gun. The guns are meant to be disposable and replaceable, with the player always on the lookout for better ones as they level up and play with their friends against the party bosses.
I can't see that Gearbox would go to the trouble of implementing a gun crafting system and then say "oh but you can only use it twice". That would go against their philosophy of making the best content they can and making sure everyone can see it.

Did they black out when making Aliens & Duke Nukem?
I'm a sucker for loot based games too but no title since Titan Quest has given me the same experience. Diablo 3 was geared towards making people use the AH to get good stuff as the drops are shocking, TL2 was okay but became very repetitive, BL2 is fun but isn't the top down RPG loot based game I prefer.
Hopefully Grimdawn is good but I'm not paying the hefty price just to get into the alpha early.
