You sure the email telling you about a password change was legit?

Ive had an influx of wow emails saying my account password has been changed, all landed in my junk box apart from one. I havnt played wow for years.

Can see how my password could have been change because you need to give email conformation to do so. Also the website name the email points to is normally something like wowcroft.com or the like.

You sure you didnt just fall into this trap?

I am sure. The password change email was legit. I was also locked out of my account.

Change your password, insert let's and numbers in there to try and make it as secure as possible. LOTRO is a great game and it would be a shame for this to happen again, and i hope your character is the way you left it.

PS: You may want to use an alternate email.

I played it on release for a couple of months, but I wasn't aware that LOTRO had a big problem with gold sellers and account hacking. Is it a recent issue or did I just not play it long enough?

First time I'd ever heard it happen in lotro. I never get spam mails or tells anymore.

You do see the occasional instance of "hacked" accounts on the codies forums, and mostly it's people ranting about CMs response. You have to be prepared to ignore the early automated responses you get and get onto customer services soon as.

Glad to hear you got your account back and that he's only 43 so everything should be easily replaceable.

Well, logged in and thankfully the only things missing are crafting mats.

All my items are in place so I am not too badly hit.
