Lorry Drivers

A) so why doesn't it work for EVERY SINGLE other truck "driver" out there?

B) Ive seen two ****wits overtaking two other ****wits at the same time, so you have a 2 x 2 flipping race.
On that occaision it took over 6 minutes for all the traffic to clear, and only then was I able to get up to cruising speed.
Whenever I see this ridiculous lorry ballet happen, I wind the passenger window down or open the glass roof and make masterbation signs at the drives to the get message accross.

Ive never experienced any issues with blasting past and feeling the "wake" as it were, even at 1.72 leptons. ;)

I must say driving a truck is not really easy, but, why the **** do they ALWAYS block the road.

In all my years of driving I have never seen the overtakee lift off to let the other by.

Its always a slow, swerving ballet beteen them for miles.

Im not suprised that the majority of accidents on motorways have lorries involved.

What age are you? Whatever age it is you need to grow up.

Is there a rule against wishing someone a horrible fate on this forum? I forget.

For my part I don't envy lorry drivers having to put up with so many idiot car drivers. Coming across an idiot lorry driver must be doubly annoying. Keep up the good work, what!

you are totally deluded.

and ******** about not feeling the wake from a lorry, even when im going past them at 70 - 80, any car ive ever been in has given a good shake and depending on how bad it was given a little tug in either direction, so going past them at that speed would be ridiculous. Not that i even begin to believe that you go those speeds, seeing as you were ****ing yourself about being caught at 95. and out of interest, what do you drive that you can quickly accelerate up to 172mph to **** off the drivers that have annoyed you?

Oh, and show me those statistics that "most accidents on motorways have lorries involved". Unless you have a source to back that up, I simply dont believe you. You may believe that a lot of accidents involve lorrys, because fact of the matter is that if a lorry is involved it is going to be a big accident thus you are going to hear about it, but i dont for a second believe that 'most' accidents are.

FTR, i dont mind lorry drivers, ive been held up maybe once or twice in my driving life, and whats the big deal, you sit at 56 mph for maybe a minute then accelerate back up. that 10 seconds you saved over the length of your journey is the key, obviously. they usually try to make life as easy as possible, for example, flash me in when ive overtaken them, etc, i have never had a problem with them.

You really are stupid.

The lorries have just as much right to use the middle lane as you do.

Quit crying. It really is that simple.

The biggest issue, to me at least, is not so much the overtaking lorry but the fact that all the other cars on the road now have to squeeze into just one lane. This includes Mrs. Miggins in her Micra who believes the motorway speed limit is 60.

4 lane motorways don't help because lorries can now use 3 of them. If we could have 5 lanes with lorries allowed to use 3 of them things would be a lot nicer.

BTW it's not just lorry drivers that have idiot bosses, impossible schedules and stupid delivery windows.

Think yourself lucky, you don't have speed limiters nor are restricted to 40 on single carriageway roads.

I think I will have to agree to disagree with you.

So just because I have my correct views on Lorries I get told to grow up and im deluded?

People wishing a horrible fate ? WTF ?

Hardly.

I sense high horsing here and gross double standards.

I have just as much right as anyone to use the road and to voice my opinion.

Not my fault some pansy who cant drive starts bottling it going past lorries at speed.

For what its worth, the faster you go the less any potential effect.

I certainly dont notice anything.

My car is supercharged, so that narrows it down! Im not going to reveal what I drive on the motorways Lol !

From my position as an experienced professional driver, imo, and its only my opinion, your FAR from correct, hey what would I know?

My truck is turbocharged - your point is?

Accelerating, a fully laden lorry (one of the huge ones) will do 1MPG to get back up to good speed. For self-employed hauliers, any fuel they waste is eating into their profits, on their already small margins.

You talk about "slowing down the flow of traffic", but think about how much you're actually slowing down. If you're having to do 65 instead of 75, how much time are you losing? Hardly any time at all! What are you whinging about?

Some reasons why lorries need the second lane:
  1. Motorways are full of exists and merges. If a lorry is going to exit, it is going to slow down to take the exit. Should the lorries behind this one slow down too, and waste all that fuel? No.
  2. Sometimes there are even slower things in the left lane. Should they be late on their schedules? No.
  3. When a car mistimes joining a motorway and a lorry needs to slow down for that car, should the others slow down behind it too? No.
  4. And so on.

Hauliers need motorways more than what you do. They do an incredibly hard job and everything about the execution of that job has narrow margins. They rightfully own the motorways more than what you do - get used to it.

Stop whining.

[lorry driver mode]Blah blah blah I'm going to drive like an utter ****, as driving courteously and with consideration to other road users costs me money.[/lorry driver mode]

Boo hoo, guess what I'm self employed too, and delays when driving cost me money. But I'm clearly less important than lorry drivers since I drive a smaller vehicle.

Everyone pays to use the roads, why do lorry drivers always seem to think they have a god given right to lord it over everyone else?

I'll agree some are perfectly good drivers, but others just give the rest of you a bad name. I followed one from Swindon to Oxford on the A420 the other day, his fuel cap was off and I dread to think how many tens/hundreds of litres of diesel he spilled. Even when we managed to get alongside him to flag him down, he ignored us and carried on giving us nasty looks. He only figured it out when we wrote a note on an envelope saying "FUEL CAP OFF!!!" in big letters and held it up to the window (in a Speed "BOM ON BOARD" style), you could almost see the reaction process working in real time in his head as he figured it out.

Trust me, the impossible schedules are adjusted to take this into account if you're doing long distance car or van work.

Think yourself lucky. On the motorway trips you're not at risk of speeding tickets just for keeping to your employers schedule.

Well if you think its a clever thing to do to blast past a lorry at 172 on a busy motorway, which is must be if he's annoying you, then yes, i think you need to do a whole lot of growing up, and you dont deserve to be on the road at all, much less so than the HGV drivers. Also, "Lol"? i wasnt laughing out loud, i suspect nobody was and i doubt you were, so dont write Lol, it makes you look a tit.

I have just as much right as anyone to use the road and to voice my opinion.
So why dont HGV drivers? You are mixing Your opinion with fact, so yes, you are deluded.

If any lorry drivers see QBitOscillation on the road, do us all a favour and move over into him.

He'll be the one with his passenger windows down masturbating.

The 56mph limit our guys have to deal with is a pain TBH. It's something forced on us by our european cousins, unfortunately, and it leaves UK drivers in the curious situation whereby the cannot even drive at the limit never mind break it and I believe that this is the cause of some on-road problems.
Some drivers choose to stick to 60mph on the motorway, the problem is that 60mph on their speedo is typically somewhere between 54 and 58mph actual. Cue Mr. Trucker coming up behind them at an actual 54-56 mph and you've created a situation where he will want/need to overtake , but due to the speed limiter being set at its current level he can only overtake slowly. Allow our truckers to do 60 mph and they will be able to pass such road users more quickly.

Gosh that QBitOscillation guy was a clot of galactic proportions. Where on Earth do they get these ridiculous ideas of being impervious to thirty ton trucks etc. He was beginning to get on my nerves too. Crazy deluded kids.

Anyway, OT, You get mostly sensible truck drivers and occasional plonkers who won't play ball. There's little one can do when they are two wide on a carriageway. Bide your time, chill out. Consider it one of those times you have absolutely no choice but to be cool and wait.

You do realise that drivers get hijacked quite often and most drivers wouldn't pay you much attention unless you had a marked up car and blue flashing lights.

We have been told not to stop for anyone but the emergency services and the crown, but thats just the place i work for.

Lorry drivers should be banned from over taking each other on duel carriage ways /end

I hate this on the A50 causes allot of traffic build up.
