Lose weight

Another thing is that I am insanely lucky to:
1) Live close enough to work to cycle to and from daily, it's just far enough that it gives me that magic 1/2-hour of exercise per day, and the way home is uphill so it gets the heart pumping.

I'm jealous :( I work 35 miles from home and as my office is effectively a country house, its about 2 miles from the nearest station. The best exercise I get is walking to and from the car :(

The amount of calories you should eat depends on your current weight. Someone who weighs around 200lbs should eat around 2000/2500 depending on their goals. Bulking or cutting.

Breakfast should be your biggest meal of the day, NOT the last meal of the day like many here have said. Also, the body can only burn around 600 calories in one sitting so aim for smaller meals than that. 400/500, 4 or 5 meals a day.

Most stick to a 40/40/20 diet, but it depends on how your body reacts to certain types of foods such as carbs.

At the end of the day, hard work gets you the body you want, you have to work out, and eat healthily. Also, drink plenty of water, cut out carp such as coke, and alcohol.

Control the size of your portions, and make sure you eat your protein, carbs, AND fat. There are healthy fats that the body needs to break down fat. You can get this from eating fish, or just taking the tablets if you don't like fish.

RESEARCH is key, and it is a LIFESTYLE change, otherwise you will just gain it back.

Also acts a fertility treatment, make sure you're careful. Could end up spawning quads!! :p
It's only a fertility treatment for PCOS sufferers AFAIK - when it actually works, via a massive long domino effect of hormones affecting other hormones - it just brings fertility back to near-normal levels...

It's like people who I talk to about metformin going "holy crap, gimme some of that!" without thinking maybe I've been affected by a syndrome which has been making a mess of the way my body works for years, and I'm taking it to be /healthy/, not just to slim down and look good...

Rant over! And yes I am careful (...chance'd be a fine thing...)!

I lost 5.5 stones last year in 10 months on the slimming world diet!
Can i just say I never gave up anything I love chocolate, take aways etc, I just ate them in moderation, eg I got weighed on a Thursday so after class we'd have a take away, or because I love chocolate I'd have a snack sized chocolate bar as part of my allowence!

Syph's missus.

I guess Abz is a misnomer.

Burn more calories that you ingest, it's the only way to lose weight. That means diet and exercise if you want to do it properly and keep the weight off.

I've lost half a stone in the last three months but more importantly I've lost a third of my bodyfat and my bodyshape has improved.

Not the only way to loose weight, if you are putting on muscle you need to eat more, the increased muscle will boost your metabolism and you will burn fat without doing anything. Good that.

no alcohol
no take-away
no crisps, biscuits, chocolate and general crappy snacks
smaller meals including fruit, nuts etc if hungry
go jogging every night

The weight will fly off

Yeah, you have more muscle, but it costs you calories to build those muscles and to maintain your metabolism. You will only lose weight when you are burning more calories than you ingest.

Still OT (last time I promise), can you take metformin and be on the pill. With metformin still being effective?

I read a story of a lad on another forum who popped 2 pills each night for 2 weeks before going running around his block. Apparently he lost something stupid like 10 stone in 2 weeks! (if thats true or not i dont know) Its one of the most unhealthy things i have ever heard im im supprised he didnt die.

I lost 4 stone about 18 months ago, put on about half a stone but kept most of it all, i exercise 4-5 times a week but eat/drink what i want now, the exercise keeps it off. I need to lose a couple of stone still, but i enjoy my grub and booze too much to really make the effort to get rid of it.

Weirdly, i now love exercising.
